Job Description

Whataburger is a storied American fast-food restaurant chain renowned for its distinctive burgers and commitment to quality and community. Established in 1950, Whataburger has grown from a single burger stand in Texas to a respected brand with numerous locations primarily across the Southern United States. The company prides itself on its commitment to bold leadership, exceptional customer service, and a welcoming work environment promoting personal and professional growth for its employees. Known for its iconic "big burgers" and fresh ingredients, Whataburger fosters a culture where every team member is considered part of the Whataburger Family, promoting a sense of unity and shared mission. This culture extends beyond its food to genuine community involvement and employee development, offering career advancement opportunities and a clear path to leadership roles within the organization.

As a Restaurant Manager at Whataburger, you will be entrusted with the critical role of overseeing a high-volume restaurant operation with average annual sales exceeding $4 million and a team of more than fifty Family Members. This position is integral to ensuring that Whataburger's core values of great food, exceptional service, and cohesive teamwork are consistently upheld. The manager rotates through key areas of responsibility — including Customer Experience, Quality Control, and People Management — cultivating a comprehensive set of leadership skills essential for future opportunities such as becoming an Operating Partner.

This position offers competitive weekly pay alongside a robust bonus program with potential earnings up to 2.5 times the base, reflecting the company’s commitment to rewarding excellence. The benefits package includes paid time off, paid holidays such as Christmas, and paid parental leave. Employees also gain access to a 401(k) retirement plan with a dollar-for-dollar company match up to 4%, comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance options, as well as short-term and long-term disability coverage. Additional benefits such as scholarship programs for dependents through the Whataburger Family Foundation, hardship grant assistance, and education benefits like free English-language learning and college-level courses with tuition discounts speak to Whataburger's investment in employee development and wellbeing.

In this role, you will lead daily restaurant operations to maintain high standards of quality, service, cleanliness, and safety. Your leadership will be vital in fostering an environment where guest experiences are friendly, fast, and genuinely Whataburger. Coaching and developing your team to help each Family Member reach their full potential is a priority, alongside meeting ambitious business goals related to sales, labor management, food costs, and profitability. You will also be responsible for ensuring food safety, workplace safety, and adherence to brand standards while championing Whataburger’s values to create a positive, inclusive workplace environment.

Operational leadership extends to overseeing shift transitions to maintain smooth, efficient services across all day parts and collaborating with other restaurant leaders to guide recruiting, training, and retention efforts. The role allows for direct involvement in business planning, performance reviews, and the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives. Based primarily in your home restaurant, you may occasionally support nearby locations or contribute leadership within the broader Market area while engaging in business meetings, training sessions, and leadership development programs designed to help you grow and stay connected to the Whataburger community.

At Whataburger, bold leadership and teamwork are more than just slogans — they’re an integral part of daily operations and team success. If you are motivated to learn, grow, and make a meaningful impact while advancing toward a leadership career capable of six-figure earnings, this Restaurant Manager role offers the perfect recipe for your success.
