Job Description
Whataburger is a beloved American fast-food restaurant chain known for its iconic, made-to-order burgers and exceptional customer service. Founded in 1950, Whataburger has grown into a trusted name in the quick-service restaurant (QSR) industry, operating numerous locations primarily in the southern United States. The company prides itself on a strong culture of integrity, teamwork, and innovation, fostering an environment where employees can thrive and develop their leadership skills. Whataburger is more than just a burger chain; it is a place where careers begin and potential is nurtured, offering a clear path for growth into leadership roles and beyond. The restaurant emphasizes employee development, community involvement, and creating memorable experiences for guests who return time and again for quality food served with heart.
The role of Restaurant Manager at Whataburger is a dynamic and rewarding position that involves overseeing the daily operations of a high-volume restaurant with average annual sales exceeding $4 million and a team of over fifty Family Members (employees). As a Restaurant Manager, you will ensure that your location consistently delivers great food, excellent customer service, and a clean, welcoming environment. This leadership role requires you to rotate through various Areas of Responsibility, including Customer service, Quality of food and operations, and People management, helping you build a comprehensive skill set that prepares you for future opportunities as an Operating Partner.
In this role, you will be instrumental in driving the restaurant's operational performance while fostering a culture of hospitality, inclusion, and teamwork. You'll support and develop your team by coaching and mentoring Family Members to help them reach their full potential. Collaboration is key, as you will work closely with the Operating Partner and other leaders to achieve business goals such as sales growth, labor cost management, food cost control, and profitability. You will also be responsible for maintaining strict compliance with food safety, workplace safety, and brand standards to uphold the Whataburger reputation.
Whataburger offers competitive weekly pay, a bonus program with significant upside potential, and paid time off including holidays such as Christmas and parental leave. Employees receive excellent benefits including medical, dental, and vision coverage, 401(k) matching up to 4%, short-term and long-term disability protections, scholarships for employees’ dependents, and various discounts on meals, fitness, wireless services, and technology. The company supports continuous career development with opportunities for education, including free English-language learning and reduced tuition for college-level courses.
As a Restaurant Manager, you will lead daily restaurant operations, champion hospitality, coach and develop team members, meet operational goals, ensure compliance with all standards, and foster an inclusive work culture. This role is based in your home restaurant, with occasional support to neighboring locations and participation in leadership meetings and training. Whataburger is committed to equal employment opportunity and participates in the federal E-Verify Program. This position requires leadership experience, strong physical stamina, and a ServSafe Food Manager Certification or the ability to obtain it during training. If you are motivated to lead, grow, and make an impact in a vibrant, supportive environment, Whataburger offers the perfect recipe for your career success.
