Job Description
Whataburger is a beloved fast-food restaurant chain founded in 1950, renowned for its commitment to quality, service, and community. With a long-standing history of serving delicious burgers and fostering a team-oriented work environment, Whataburger has grown to become a staple in the fast-food industry across Texas and beyond. The company prides itself on investing in its people, nurturing bold leadership, and creating career pathways for its employees. It offers a dynamic workplace where individuals can develop their skills, contribute to team success, and build rewarding careers in restaurant management. Whataburger emphasizes integrity, teamwork, and a culture that values each Family Member's unique contributions. This is a place where leadership is encouraged to flourish and where important values like serving with heart and winning as one bring the team together daily.
The role of a Restaurant Manager at Whataburger is integral to maintaining the high standards and vibrant culture that define the brand. As a Restaurant Manager, you will oversee a high-volume restaurant with average annual sales exceeding $4 million and manage a team of more than fifty Family Members. This leadership position requires a hands-on approach to managing daily operations in key areas such as customer service, quality assurance, and personnel development. You will be responsible for creating a welcoming environment where great food, exceptional service, and positive teamwork come together seamlessly. The Restaurant Manager role entails rotating responsibilities across multiple areas to build well-rounded leadership skills, preparing candidates for future roles such as Operating Partner.
Your primary focus will be to support operational performance by driving sales, managing labor costs, and ensuring food safety and cleanliness standards are upheld. Coaching and developing the team to reach their full potential is a core part of this role, as is collaborating closely with your Operating Partner and fellow leaders for continuous improvement and business success. You will lead by example, modeling Whataburger's core values, fostering inclusivity, and maintaining smooth operations through effective shift transitions.
Whataburger offers competitive compensation for Restaurant Managers, including weekly pay and a bonus program with 2.5 times upside potential. Benefits include paid time off, paid holidays such as Christmas, paid parental leave, and a 401(k) match up to 4%. The company also provides competitive medical, dental, and vision coverage, short-term and long-term disability benefits, as well as comprehensive education benefits like free English-language courses and college tuition discounts. There are opportunities for career advancement with a clear path toward six-figure earnings. Additional perks include discounted meals, wireless service discounts, computer and software discounts, gym discounts, awards and recognition programs, and retirement celebration initiatives.
Working at Whataburger means being part of a community that values bold leadership and passionate teamwork. You will mostly work in your home restaurant location but may provide leadership support to neighboring locations as needed. Leadership training sessions and business meetings will help you stay connected and grow within the Whataburger family. Equal employment opportunities are a foundational principle for Whataburger, supporting a diverse and inclusive workplace where every employee is respected and valued. If you are ready to learn, grow, and make a difference through leadership at Whataburger, this role offers the perfect recipe for impact and professional development.
