The role of Restaurant Manager at Whataburger is a pivotal leadership position within a high-volume restaurant environment. This role involves overseeing a team of more than fifty Family Members and managing average annual sales exceeding $4 million. Restaurant Managers are responsible for creating an environment where great food, great service, and great teamwork blend seamlessly. The position offers a unique opportunity to rotate through Customer, Quality, and People Areas of Responsibility (AORs), which helps build well-rounded leadership skills and prepares individuals for future Operating Partner roles.
As a Restaurant Manager, you will lead daily restaurant operations to meet stringent quality, service, and cleanliness standards. You’ll be expected to champion hospitality and create guest experiences that feel friendly, fast, and authentically Whataburger. Developing and coaching the team is a core responsibility, enabling Family Members to reach their full potential. You will be tasked with achieving restaurant goals across critical business metrics such as sales, labor, food cost, and profitability. Furthermore, you will ensure strict adherence to food safety, workplace safety, and brand standards, exemplifying Whataburger’s values and fostering a positive and inclusive work environment.
This position requires strong leadership during shift transitions and the ability to maintain smooth operations throughout all day parts. In partnership with the restaurant leadership team, the Restaurant Manager will guide talent development, training, hiring, and retention efforts to build a committed and capable team. Additionally, you will support business planning, performance reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives to drive the restaurant’s success.

Job Requirements
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Possess a high school diploma or GED strongly preferred or equivalent experience
- Be able to meet business needs and have open availability, including overnights, weekends, holidays, variable hours, and maintain dependable attendance
- Have ability to stand up to 10 hours, lift up to 55 lbs., and meet physical demands
- Have 1-3 years of leadership experience
- Possess ServSafe Food Manager Certification or the ability to successfully obtain and pass the exam during training
- Possess a valid driver’s license and maintain current automobile liability at minimum levels in your state of residence
