The role of Restaurant Manager at Whataburger is a dynamic and influential position responsible for overseeing a high-volume restaurant with average annual sales exceeding $4 million and managing a team of over fifty Family Members. This role is critical in creating an environment where great food, outstanding service, and effective teamwork thrive daily. The Restaurant Manager will rotate through key Areas of Responsibility, including Customer, Quality, and People, to develop well-rounded leadership skills and prepare for future opportunities as an Operating Partner. This position entails ensuring operational performance, fostering team development, collaborating with leadership partners, and driving continuous improvements.

Compensation for the Restaurant Manager role includes competitive weekly pay and a bonus program with 2.5 times upside potential. This role requires a leader who can manage daily restaurant operations to meet quality, service, and cleanliness standards while championing hospitality and guest service. The Restaurant Manager coaches, develops, and supports Family Members to reach their full potential while achieving financial and operational goals across sales, labor, food cost, and profitability. The manager ensures adherence to food safety, workplace safety, and brand standards, fosters a positive and inclusive workplace, oversees shift transitions, guides talent development activities, and supports business planning and continuous improvement initiatives. This role is primarily based in the home restaurant but may occasionally involve supporting nearby locations or participating in broader leadership and training sessions.

Job Requirements

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • possess a high school diploma or GED strongly preferred or equivalent experience
  • be able to meet business needs and have open availability, including overnights, weekends, holidays, variable hours, and maintain dependable attendance
  • have ability to stand up to 10 hours, lift up to 55 lbs, and meet physical demands
  • have 1-3 years of leadership experience
  • possess ServSafe Food Manager Certification or ability to successfully obtain and pass the exam during training
  • possess a valid driver’s license and maintain current automobile liability at minimum levels in your state of residence
