Job Description
Jack in the Box is a well-established American fast-food restaurant chain known for its diverse menu offerings, commitment to quality, and innovative approach to casual dining. Founded in 1951, the company has grown extensively and built a strong brand recognized nationwide for its delicious burgers, tacos, breakfast items, and late-night snack options. The company places a strong emphasis on the Service Profit Chain (SPC) and Brand Promise, aiming to deliver superior customer service and high operational standards in every location. Jack in the Box is committed to creating a positive work culture that values respect, development, and motivation of its employees while maintaining a fun, clean, and safe environment for both staff and guests.
This position is for a Restaurant Manager who will be responsible for overseeing the overall operations of a Jack in the Box restaurant unit. The manager plays a critical role in ensuring the successful execution of the company’s operational strategies, maintaining high standards for internal and external service, and boosting restaurant sales and profitability. This full-time managerial role requires a strong leader who is adept at team development, operational execution, and maintaining compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
The Restaurant Manager’s primary responsibility includes recruiting, selecting, training, and developing restaurant employees, as well as evaluating their performance. This role demands constant attention to staffing levels, ensuring that there is talent growth and that training programs are consistently applied. The manager will foster an employee-friendly workplace culture that prioritizes motivation, respect, and recognition.
Externally, the manager ensures daily excellence in restaurant performance by delivering exceptional guest experiences. This involves managing guest service standards, food quality, and safety in accordance with Jack in the Box protocols. The manager must be visible and engaged with guests, handling complaints effectively and maintaining the brand image through cleanliness and service quality.
Additionally, the manager uses various management information tools to assess operational and financial performance, identifying trends and making data-driven decisions to enhance sales and profits. Keeping costs within budget and protecting the brand’s reputation are key aspects of this role.
Beyond these responsibilities, the Restaurant Manager is expected to lead by example, promoting the company's culture and values, managing conflict constructively, and adapting to changing business demands with urgency and precision. The role requires excellent communication, organizational skills, and the ability to inspire a team to achieve high performance. Other duties will be assigned as necessary to support the efficient running of the restaurant.
Candidates must meet certain qualifications, including a high school diploma (or GED), with further education preferred. Those promoted internally should have prior managerial experience within the company, while external candidates need significant service management experience. This position also demands strong interpersonal skills, analytical abilities, and proficiency with computer applications. Physical requirements include standing and walking for most of the shift and handling moderately heavy lifting.
Jack in the Box also provides reasonable accommodations to qualified individuals with disabilities, underscoring its commitment to inclusive employment practices. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead in a dynamic fast-food setting with a respected brand that values integrity, quality service, and employee development. Candidates will need to comply with the company’s arbitration agreement as part of the employment terms.
