The role of Assistant Manager at Flynn Applebee's is a full-time position with a competitive annual salary range of $60,000 to $75,000. It is designed for an individual who thrives in a fast-paced restaurant environment and is passionate about delivering outstanding guest experiences. This role is integral to the day-to-day operations of the restaurant and requires a hands-on leader who can inspire and motivate both guests and staff alike. The Assistant Manager supports the General Manager by overseeing operational activities which include ensuring timely and friendly customer service, staff development, maintaining product quality, inventory control, scheduling, and compliance with all safety and sanitation standards.

The Assistant Manager is expected to embody the core values of Flynn Applebee’s and be a role model within the restaurant. This includes addressing guest complaints effectively, leading recruitment efforts, ensuring staff training and performance assessments are routinely carried out, and maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work environment. Exceptional problem-solving skills, stress management, and the ability to work collaboratively with the team are vital for success in this position.

Furthermore, the Assistant Manager must be willing and capable of working in various roles within the restaurant, including cooking, bartending, seating guests, and expediting orders, demonstrating versatility and team spirit. Job Requirements

  • At least 2-3 years restaurant management experience
  • Serve Safe Food and Serve Safe Alcohol Certifications also a plus
  • must have the ability to work various shifts ranging in hours, including weekends
  • must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to ten hours in length
  • able to safely lift pots, pans, glassware, boxes, etc. up to 50 pounds in weight
  • must be able to read and write to facilitate communication
  • must possess finger and hand dexterity for using small tools and equipment
  • driver's license required

Job Qualifications

  • At least 2-3 years restaurant management experience
  • experience with employee training and development
  • knowledge of safety, sanitation, and food handling standards
  • strong leadership and interpersonal skills
  • excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • proficiency in managing inventory and cost controls
  • ability to work flexible hours including weekends
  • ability to lead and motivate a team
  • certifications such as Serve Safe Food and Alcohol preferred

Job Duties

  • Ensures timely, friendly service according to company guidelines, achieving established objectives of the unit
  • cultivates a culture in accordance with the Flynn Applebee's Premier Card of our core values and beliefs
  • ensures the immediate response and correction of all verbal guest complaints to self and staff
  • ensures guest contact as a priority with completion of required table visits established by Flynn Applebee's standards
  • maintains departmental inventory levels
  • ensures product preparation and presentation uncompromisingly meeting company standards by performing line checks
  • effectively schedules employees to meet sales demands
  • maintains effective safety and security programs
  • promotes and leads restaurant organization, cleanliness and sanitation
  • performs routine maintenance and immediately reports to the General Manager/Area Director of needed repairs
  • promotes quality recruitment and referrals of potential team member and management candidates
  • promotes Flynn | Applebee's training procedures for new managers
  • helps maintain a trained staff through effective use of employment orientation, individual training sessions, employee meetings and implementation of company policy and training systems
  • participates in the constant development of employees using One-on-One and performance documentation, and contributes to the completion of written evaluations
  • assesses the efficiency of employees, provides fair feedback on a regular basis, and continuously works with employees on their areas of development
  • monitors acceptable employee performance and documents situations that require or could lead to disciplinary or corrective action
  • assures compliance with company policies, practices and procedures
  • responsible for controlling cost in assigned department
  • compliance with local, state and federal laws, regulations and guidelines
  • drives bi-weekly / weekly food and liquor inventories at the AD/GM's request and is accountable for completion
  • responsible for preparing and submitting accurate daily paperwork
  • assures sanitation standards meet or exceed Health Department and Flynn Applebee's standards
  • provides a role model for managers and employees
  • develops self on all store related technology
  • must be willing and able to work in all positions and assist in a team member position as needed when in a restaurant
  • this includes cooking on the line, expo, seating guests, bartending, etc.
  • uses the Management Development Program for continuous growth of leadership skills and proficiencies
