The Applebee's Assistant Manager role is an integral leadership position responsible for the daily operational success of the restaurant. This full-time position offers a competitive salary ranging from $65,000 to $78,000 per year. As an Assistant Manager, you will be engaged in all aspects of restaurant management, ensuring guests and staff are passionate about their experience. You will lead by example, fostering a positive and energetic environment while managing challenges with composure and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities include ensuring timely and friendly guest service in line with company standards, cultivating a culture that reflects Flynn Applebee's core values, and addressing guest concerns promptly. You will oversee inventory management, scheduling, safety, and sanitation to maintain operational excellence. Additionally, you will drive employee development through training, performance evaluations, recruitment, and leadership development programs.

This role requires flexibility and teamwork, often involving hands-on duties such as cooking, hosting, or bartending when necessary. Your leadership will contribute to a cohesive team atmosphere committed to delivering superior guest experiences. The position demands strong communication skills, the ability to work various shifts including weekends and long hours, and a physical capacity to perform tasks such as lifting up to 50 pounds. Serve Safe Food and Alcohol certifications are advantageous but not mandatory.

Job Requirements

  • At least 2-3 years restaurant management experience
  • valid driver's license
  • ability to work various shifts including weekends
  • ability to stand and exert mobility for up to 10 hours
  • ability to lift up to 50 pounds safely
  • effective reading and writing skills for communication
  • finger and hand dexterity for using small tools and equipment

Job Qualifications

  • At least 2-3 years restaurant management experience
  • Serve Safe Food and Serve Safe Alcohol certifications preferred
  • strong leadership and communication skills
  • ability to lead and develop teams effectively
  • knowledge of safety and sanitation standards
  • experience with inventory control and scheduling
  • proficiency with Microsoft Office and store-related technology
  • excellent problem-solving abilities
  • capable of handling stressful situations calmly

Job Duties

  • Ensures timely, friendly service according to company guidelines, achieving established objectives of the unit
  • cultivates a culture in accordance with the Flynn Applebee's Premier Card of core values and beliefs
  • ensures the immediate response and correction of all verbal guest complaints to self and staff
  • ensures guest contact priority with completion of required table visits established by Flynn Applebee's standards
  • maintains departmental inventory levels
  • ensures product preparation and presentation meet company standards by performing line checks
  • effectively schedules employees to meet sales demands
  • maintains effective safety and security programs
  • promotes restaurant organization, cleanliness and sanitation
  • performs routine maintenance and reports needed repairs to General Manager or Area Director
  • promotes quality recruitment and referrals of potential team members and management candidates
  • promotes Flynn Applebee's training procedures for new managers
  • helps maintain a trained staff through orientation, individual training, meetings and implementation of company policy and training systems
  • participates in employee development through one-on-one meetings and documentation, contributing to written evaluations
  • assesses employee efficiency, provides regular feedback and supports employee development
  • monitors employee performance and documents situations requiring disciplinary or corrective action
  • assures compliance with company policies, practices and procedures
  • responsible for controlling cost in assigned department
  • ensures compliance with local, state and federal laws
  • drives bi-weekly or weekly food and liquor inventories as requested
  • prepares and submits accurate daily paperwork
  • assures sanitation standards meet or exceed Health Department and Flynn Applebee's standards
  • provides a role model for managers and employees
  • develops self on all store-related technology
  • willing and able to work in all positions as needed
  • uses Management Development Program for continuous growth of leadership skills and proficiencies
