The role of Restaurant Manager at Denco Family, Inc. is a dynamic and rewarding position focused on overseeing the daily operations of a restaurant while leading a team of 15 to 20 crew members. Reporting directly to the General Manager, Restaurant Managers play a crucial role in ensuring smooth operational execution during their assigned shifts. This role requires flexibility in working day and night shifts, weekends, and holidays as schedules rotate among peer managers and hourly supervisors.

Key responsibilities include supervising staff to maintain high standards of guest service and cleanliness while driving continuous operational improvements. The Restaurant Manager will be deeply involved in employee recruitment, training, and retention strategies to build a strong and motivated team. Understanding and managing financial aspects like profit and loss statements, operating plans, and cost control are essential components of the job, contributing to the overall success and profitability of the restaurant.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years experience in restaurant, hospitality or retail management
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to work a minimum of 50 hours a week
  • Food Safety Manager certification required
  • Strong organizational skills with excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to communicate with all levels of the organization
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, in the English language
  • Possesses basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide)
  • Places a value on diversity and shows respect for others
  • Proven ability to problem solve and handle high stress situations
  • Ability to interpret financial statements and understand contributing factors
  • Must be able to perform job duties of every position
  • Must be prepared to multitask in accordance with the demands of the business

  • Must be able to hear well in a loud environment to respond to employee and guest needs
  • Must meet any state, county or municipal regulation pertaining to health risk concerns about food handling
  • Must be able to operate a point-of-sale system and differentiate between monetary denominations
  • Must be able to work with all Denny's menu products
  • Must be able to work around potentially hazardous chemicals
  • Must have sufficient mobility to move and operate in confined work areas
  • Must work inside and outside
  • Must be able to observe staff and all aspects of restaurant operations
  • Must be able to stand and walk during a 10 to 12 hour shift
  • occasional shifts in excess of 10 hours may be required due to the demands of the business
  • Must be able to tolerate extreme temperature changes in kitchen and freezer areas

Job Duties

  • Promotes company mission, vision and core values

  • assists the General Manager by overseeing assigned shifts and monitors brand standards execution
  • assists in the achievement of controllable profit goals by monitoring controls and taking corrective action
  • develops and coaches hourly employees on brand standards and corporate policies
  • works with the General Manager to attract, hire, onboard and retain hourly talent
  • brings employee relations issues and deviations from brand standards to General Manager
  • works with the General Manager to develop hourly employees through training
  • develops relationships with community organizations to increase guest counts
  • monitors proper security procedures to protect employees, guests and company assets
  • enforces sanitary practices for food handling and cleanliness
  • maintains an enjoyable and respectful environment
  • ensures compliance with employment policies and regulations
  • follows management cash handling and inventory procedures
  • completes other tasks as assigned
