The role of an Applebee's Assistant Manager at Flynn Group is dynamic and central to the daily success of the restaurant. This is a full-time position offering a competitive salary range of $67,000 to $72,000 annually. The Assistant Manager is deeply involved in all facets of restaurant operations, ensuring a memorable guest experience and a motivated, high-performing team. The position requires leadership skills to inspire and guide restaurant staff, problem-solving capabilities to handle daily operational challenges smoothly, and the stamina to work in a fast-paced, demanding environment. Responsibilities include overseeing service quality to meet company guidelines, cultivating a positive workplace culture aligned with Flynn’s values, and directly addressing guest feedback and complaints. The assistant manager also plays a crucial role in inventory control, scheduling, safety and sanitation, staff recruitment, training, and development. Emphasis is placed on hands-on involvement, from assisting in team member roles such as cooking, bartending, or seating guests to embracing ongoing professional growth through management development programs. The ideal candidate will possess leadership maturity and communication skills to assess and develop the team regularly, while maintaining compliance with company policies and legal regulations. Job Requirements

At least 2-3 years restaurant management experience
Serve Safe Food and Serve Safe Alcohol certifications are a plus
Ability to work various shifts including weekends
Ability to stand and be mobile for up to ten hours
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds safely
Ability to read and write to facilitate communication
Finger and hand dexterity for using small tools and equipment

Job Qualifications

At least 2-3 years restaurant management experience
Experience with leadership and team development
Knowledge of food safety and alcohol service certifications such as Serve Safe Food and Serve Safe Alcohol preferred
Strong problem-solving skills
Ability to handle stress and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Proven track record of maintaining high customer service standards
Ability to manage scheduling, inventory, and operational costs
Familiarity with safety, sanitation, and compliance standards

Job Duties

Ensures timely, friendly service according to company guidelines, achieving established objectives of the unit
Cultivates a culture in accordance with the Flynn Applebee's Premier Card of our core values and beliefs
Ensures the immediate response and correction of all verbal guest complaints to self and staff
Ensures guest contact as a priority with completion of required table visits established by Flynn Applebee's standards
Maintains departmental inventory levels
Ensures product preparation and presentation uncompromisingly meeting company standards by performing line checks
Effectively schedules employees to meet sales demands
Maintains effective safety and security programs
Promotes and leads restaurant organization, cleanliness and sanitation
Performs routine maintenance and immediately reports to the General Manager or Area Director of needed repairs
Promotes quality recruitment and referrals of potential team member and management candidates
Promotes Flynn | Applebee's training procedures for new managers
Helps maintain a trained staff through effective use of employment orientation, individual training sessions, employee meetings and implementation of company policy and training systems
Participates in the constant development of employees using One-on-One and performance documentation, and contributes to the completion of written evaluations
Assesses the efficiency of employees, provides fair feedback on a regular basis, and continuously works with employees on their areas of development
Monitors acceptable employee performance and documents situations that require or could lead to disciplinary or corrective action
Assures compliance with company policies, practices and procedures
Responsible for controlling cost in assigned department
Compliance with local, state and federal laws, regulations and guidelines
Drives bi-weekly / weekly food and liquor inventories at the AD/GM's request and is accountable for completion
Responsible for preparing and submitting accurate daily paperwork
Assures sanitation standards meet or exceed Health Department and Flynn Applebee's standards
Provides a role model for managers and employees
Develops self on all store related technology
Must be willing and able to work in all positions and assist in a team member position as needed when in a restaurant. This includes cooking on the line, expo, seating guests, bartending, etc.
Uses the Management Development Program for continuous growth of leadership skills and proficiencies
