Job Description
Huey's is a beloved local restaurant chain that has been a Memphis staple for over 50 years. Known for its iconic Blues, Brews, and Burgers, Huey's has become synonymous with a laid-back, fun atmosphere paired with quality food and excellent customer service. Founded in 1970, originally opening in Midtown Memphis, the restaurant quickly gained popularity and has been voted the Best Burger in Memphis since 1984. This longstanding family-owned business is proud of its rich history and the legacy built by its late owner Thomas Boggs, now carried on by his children. Huey's offers a positive work environment that focuses on work-life balance and encourages employees to express their individuality while contributing to a team-oriented culture. The restaurant combines a casual dining experience with a strong emphasis on community, customer satisfaction, and operational excellence. The company is committed to equal opportunity employment, ensuring a diverse and inclusive workplace free from discrimination.
The Restaurant Manager role at Huey's is a critical position responsible for partnering closely with the General Manager to oversee day-to-day restaurant operations. This full-time role provides a competitive annual salary ranging from $52,000 to $62,000 and includes a comprehensive benefits package. The Restaurant Manager leads hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management of the restaurant team, ensuring that all staff deliver exceptional customer service consistently. This role requires a hands-on approach, where the manager actively works the floor during busy periods to ensure that guest service remains outstanding. Beyond engaging with customers directly—whether greeting them, serving, or handling issues—the Restaurant Manager also supports human resource activities such as employee interviewing, coaching, disciplinary actions, and maintaining employee records.
Operational duties include managing labor costs and scheduling to meet budgetary guidelines, ensuring compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations, especially those enforced by local health departments, and overseeing state laws related to alcohol service, including maintenance of licensing documentation. The manager also assists with financial reporting, including preparing in-house profit and loss statements. This role demands excellent interpersonal and communication skills, intermediate computer proficiency with platforms like Microsoft Office and restaurant management software, and the ability to maintain a high-energy, detail-oriented atmosphere in a fast-paced restaurant environment. Physical stamina is necessary, as the job requires standing, walking, bending, and lifting for extended periods. Overall, this position offers an excellent opportunity for a seasoned restaurant professional who thrives in a busy setting and is motivated to deliver an outstanding customer experience while supporting a cohesive and motivated team.
