As a Restaurant Manager at Steak 'n Shake, you will play a pivotal role in leading and inspiring a dynamic team to achieve operational mastery and outstanding guest service. As the Restaurant Manager, you will report directly to the General Manager or Franchise Partner and be accountable for attaining the establishment’s business goals and strategic vision. Your leadership will not only involve managing day-to-day operations but also actively participating in food preparation, service, cleanliness, and overall team performance during all shifts, including opening, mid-day, and closing.

This role goes beyond supervising; it demands ownership of the restaurant's profit and loss (P&L) statements, requiring careful management of food costs, inventory control, invoice verification, and waste reduction. You will also need to optimize labor through effective scheduling, cross-training, and boosting employee versatility, ensuring a smooth and profitable operation. From overseeing inventory from the back door to the front line to recruiting and nurturing top hourly talent, your leadership will be critical in maintaining Steak 'n Shake's market-leading standards for quality and service.

Job Duties

  • lead by example actively working the line prepping food maintaining cleanliness and serving guests across all shifts opening mid day and closing
  • wear a professional uniform daily shirt and tie or collared blouse setting the tone for team presentation and upholding all brand standards food safety practices and service protocols
  • own the p&l manage food costs control inventory verify invoices and eliminate waste while driving labor efficiency with smart scheduling cross training and station versatility
  • oversee inventory from the back door to the front line
  • recruit train and retain top hourly talent through clear feedback and coaching
