The Restaurant Manager role at Salt Lake Brewing Co LC carries the significant responsibility of overseeing the entire daily operation and profitability of the restaurant portion of the business. This full-time, non-exempt position reports directly to the General Manager and focuses on maintaining exemplary customer satisfaction standards as the top priority of the restaurant. The Restaurant Manager is entrusted with managing both Front of House and Back of House teams, ensuring smooth coordination between these areas to optimize operational efficiency. Essential duties involve supervising all restaurant positions during hours of operation, leading the management teams and hourly staff with a focus on leadership, communication, and a safe working environment. This role also covers financial tasks like controlling costs, managing reservations, conducting inventories, reconciling cash, and overseeing accounting entries related to beer and retail item transfers.

The manager actively engages in fostering an environment where superior guest service is the norm and works to promptly address guest complaints within company guidelines. Collaboration with the brewery team is key, especially in promoting Salt Lake Brewing Co LC beers and maintaining beer dispensing systems. Additionally, the Restaurant Manager plays a vital role in staff recruitment, training, scheduling, performance management, and adherence to company policies, all designed to encourage strong employee retention. Physical demands are significant, requiring the ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and handle 165-pound kegs safely, as well as maintaining endurance to work under operational stresses.

This position requires a high school diploma or GED minimum, numerous certifications including Cicerone Certified Beer Server, ServSafe Food Handler Manager, and alcohol certification, and at least two years’ experience in a full-service restaurant environment. The job expects availability across all days, nights, weekends, and holidays, with travel requirements up to 20%. Candidates must be 21 years or older, have intermediate to advanced computer skills, especially with the Microsoft Office Suite, and possess strong problem-solving and communication abilities to succeed in this fast-paced, customer-focused role.

Job Duties

  • Demonstrate leadership and teamwork while working respectfully with all team members
  • Communicate clearly while demonstrating willingness to help all team members

  • Oversee daily front of the house and back of the house restaurant operations
  • Report any issues, concerns, or pertinent items in daily HotSchedules Manager Logbook notes
  • Manage reservations according to reservation policy, and work in coordination with the event coordinator
  • Ensure daily pre-shift meetings take place with staff
  • Ensure complete adherence to all federal and local laws including labor, dram shop, DABC laws and licensing
  • Complete all assigned tasks delegated by General Manager
  • Ensure superior service is offered to all guests
  • Act as an ambassador for visiting brewers, wholesale partners, retailers, and others
  • Assist staff with timely service and accurate execution of food items
  • Respond to guest complaints proactively within procedures
  • Recruit staff and complete employee paperwork and onboarding
  • Ensure scheduling standards and practices are met
  • Manage staff including coaching, rewarding, warnings, suspensions, or termination
  • Ensure staff adheres to company policies
  • Promote strong employee retention
  • Ensure continual training for job competency
  • Work with Chef to ensure food and beverage products meet specifications
  • Protect consumer health with sanitary and safe food handling practices
  • Maintain and troubleshoot kitchen equipment
  • Promote and serve Salt Lake Brewing Co LC beer reflecting quality and excellence
  • Liaise with brewery management and staff
  • Maintain and troubleshoot draft beer dispensing systems
  • Ensure proper standards for restaurant set up, including opening and closing procedures
  • Maintain and secure building premises
  • Maintain strict security standards
  • Ensure retail and to-go beer items are stocked and aesthetically maintained
  • Ensure all invoices are accounted for accurately
  • Reconcile cash at the end of the night and record daily deposit
  • Accurately enter beer and retail item transfers into accounting systems
  • Conduct periodic inventories with District Manager or VP
  • Ensure timely and efficient ordering for financial viability
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned
