Job Description
The Strand House is Manhattan Beach's premier beachfront fine dining restaurant, renowned for its sweeping 180-degree views of the Pacific Ocean and its award-winning Coastal California Cuisine crafted by Chef Chris Park. Established in 2011 by a group of South Bay families with a passion for exceptional food, wine, and community, The Strand House quickly became a landmark destination for locals and travelers alike. Boasting five distinct levels and seating for over 200 guests, the restaurant offers an unmatched dining experience that combines sophisticated elegance with the warm, friendly atmosphere of a beach town. The Strand House’s culinary offerings are complemented by its curated cocktail and wine program, ensuring guests enjoy a full sensory experience from start to finish.
We are currently seeking an experienced Restaurant Manager to join our leadership team. This full-time role offers a competitive base salary ranging from $90,000 to $95,000 annually, depending on experience, with generous bonus opportunities. The position comes with a comprehensive benefits package including 100% paid medical and dental coverage, vision insurance options, vacation, sick and holiday pay, free meals, free parking, an employee assistance program, life insurance, 401K participation through CalSavers, an employee referral program, industry perks, management training programs, and opportunities for future growth within the Zislis Group family. The role is uniquely situated within a vibrant, positive culture set against stunning panoramic ocean views and includes additional perks such as discounted meal and hotel rates across all Zislis Group properties and complimentary yoga classes.
As a Restaurant Manager at The Strand House, you will lead the daily front-of-house operations, ensuring every guest receives exceptional service and leaves with a memorable experience. You will supervise, train, and schedule a dynamic team that includes servers, hosts, bussers, bartenders, and barbacks. Collaboration across departments is essential; you will work closely with the Executive Chef, Events Team, and General Manager to successfully execute private events and promotional activities. Financial management is a critical component of the role, as you will be responsible for managing labor, costs, and budgets to meet and exceed financial goals. Upholding strict compliance with California labor laws, health and safety standards, and alcohol service protocols will also be a key part of your responsibilities.
The ideal candidate is a seasoned hospitality professional with at least five years of experience managing upscale or high-volume restaurants, including events or nightlife. You lead with confidence, positivity, and organization, inspiring your team to deliver genuine hospitality and impeccable service. You possess strong financial acumen, including proficiency in profit and loss analysis, labor management, and cost control. You understand the importance of balancing strategic oversight with hands-on presence on the floor and are capable of communicating effectively to build strong relationships within your team and the broader community. A passion for food, wine, and hospitality — along with a connection to the South Bay lifestyle — will set you up for success at The Strand House.
Joining The Strand House means becoming part of a company that values diversity and inclusion, fostering a workplace free from discrimination and harassment where all members can thrive. The restaurant is part of the Zislis Group, a respected hospitality organization committed to equal opportunity and fair employment practices. If you are looking for a leadership role that blends sophistication, community, coastal charm, and a commitment to excellence, The Strand House awaits you.
