Job Description

This job opportunity is offered by an independently owned and operated Del Taco restaurant franchise. Unlike being employed by Del Taco LLC, the hired individual will be employed directly by the franchisee who operates the specific restaurant. This independent franchisee is responsible for all employment-related matters including hiring, firing, wages, supervision, staffing, and scheduling within the restaurant.

Del Taco is a well-established quick-service restaurant known for its flavorful Mexican-inspired menu and commitment to quality and customer service. The brand is dedicated to delivering an exceptional customer experience through its vibrant food offerings and welcoming atmosphere. This position offers the chance to be part of a dynamic team that carries forward the Del Taco legacy while driving operational excellence and achieving financial goals.

The role being offered is for a Restaurant Manager reporting directly to the Area Director. The Restaurant Manager plays a crucial role in protecting and promoting the Del Taco Brand at the store level by leading through the principles known as The Del Taco Way. The restaurant manager is tasked with growing sales, maximizing operational efficiency, and ensuring the profitability of the restaurant. This leadership role requires managing all aspects of store operations, from staffing and training to inventory management and compliance with health and safety standards.

The manager will be accountable for fully staffing the restaurant, recruiting and retaining motivated team members, and fostering a culture centered on excellent service, teamwork, and fun. Key responsibilities include certifying the team members with ongoing training, evaluating performance, recommending salary adjustments, and taking necessary disciplinary actions when appropriate. A major focus is on developing employees and future managers, creating pathways for career growth within the Del Taco organization.

Operationally, the manager ensures that the restaurant consistently meets Del Taco’s quality standards by maintaining the facility, equipment, and cleanliness according to prescribed schedules. This role involves hands-on oversight to guarantee product quality, proper employee uniform standards, and a consistent customer service experience. The manager must also oversee the presentation of point-of-purchase signage and marketing materials to enhance customer engagement.

Sales growth involves setting and communicating goals, placing the right staff according to demand projections, boosting the customer count and average spend, and executing local store marketing initiatives. The manager will stay informed about local events and competition in the trade area to leverage promotional opportunities.

Profitability is achieved by maintaining labor levels aligned with sales, complying with labor laws, managing inventory accurately to reduce waste and theft, and ensuring strict cash handling procedures. Safety and health standards must be maintained, and costs minimized by effective vendor management and controlling operational expenses. The Restaurant Manager may also be assigned other duties as needed to respond to emergencies, workload changes, or business developments.

This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, three to five years' experience in the quick-service restaurant or full-service concept industry, and ServSafe certification. Fluency in English is required; Spanish language skills are a plus. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills along with the ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision. Proven leadership abilities to motivate and develop a diverse team are essential.

The work environment includes both office and restaurant settings, involving extended periods of standing, sitting, and computer work, with occasional bending and lifting. The role requires the ability to drive and travel to different restaurant locations, including some overnight travel. A valid driver’s license and proof of vehicle insurance are mandatory.

Del Taco is an equal opportunity employer dedicated to providing a workplace free from discrimination and harassment. Employment is on an at-will basis, and the company emphasizes respect, dignity, and career development for its workforce.
