Job Description
California Pizza Kitchen (CPK) is a renowned restaurant chain that originated in 1985, founded by former federal prosecutors Rick Rosenfield and Larry Flax. It started as a bold venture to bring California-style creativity and fresh ingredients to classic and innovative pizzas. CPK quickly made a name for itself with signature hearth-baked pizzas such as The Original BBQ Chicken, California Club, and Thai Chicken, set in an open lively kitchen environment. This pioneering spirit positioned California alongside other major pizza destinations like Chicago and New York, making CPK a beloved destination for food lovers seeking unique and flavorful pizza experiences. Over the years, California Pizza Kitchen has cultivated a passionate and diverse community of employees and guests who share a love for innovation, quality food, and exceptional hospitality.
The establishment's culture is built on its ROCKS philosophy, which stands for Respect, Opportunity, Communication, Kindness, and Service. This philosophy guides how the company treats its employees, customers, and communities, emphasizing a supportive and people-first work environment where individuality and passion are embraced. CPK encourages its team members to be bold, be epic, and be themselves, fostering an inclusive atmosphere where career growth and creativity are nurtured.
In this role, you will join the vibrant team as a restaurant manager, responsible for upholding CPK's commitment to delivering a phenomenal guest experience while driving operational excellence. The position offers a competitive salary range of $65,000 to $73,000 annually and includes a comprehensive benefits package featuring medical, dental, vision, disability, and 401(k) plans. You will be immersed in a highly supportive environment that features an eight-week comprehensive training program blending digital, book, and in-person learning techniques designed to set you up for success. The training equips you with the necessary skills and company knowledge to lead your team effectively and drive business performance.
As a leader at CPK, you will inspire and motivate your team with a people-first approach and promote a culture of hospitality and culinary excellence. Your responsibilities will extend to building a strong team through hiring, training, and developing talent while fostering an environment that supports career advancement and cross-training. Financial responsibilities include managing the restaurant's profit and loss, forecasting revenues, budgeting labor costs, and ensuring adherence to portion controls and operational standards.
You will also be charged with maintaining a safe, healthy, and clean work environment according to sanitation standards, guaranteeing guest satisfaction and safety. Communication will be a key element of your role, as you will engage effectively with employees, guests, suppliers, and senior management. The company culture rewards continuous learning via "The Proof," an electronic learning platform supporting ongoing development. Employee perks include all-you-can-eat pizza during shifts, a management dine-out card for use with family and friends, and access to an employee-driven assistance program called the Kindness Fund, which helps team members through life challenges.
By joining California Pizza Kitchen as a manager, you step into a role that combines the art of hospitality, leadership, and operational expertise in one of the most innovative pizza concepts in the country. You become a key player in a dynamic team that values creativity, diversity, and the drive to move the business forward. This is an exciting opportunity for professionals passionate about food, customer service, and leading a team to exceptional results within an organization that values its people and their development.
