Job Description

The restaurant hiring for this role is an independently owned franchisee of Del Taco, a well-known fast-food chain specializing in Mexican-inspired fare. This franchise operates as an independent business entity, separate from Del Taco LLC, managing its own employment and operational decisions. As such, the franchisee is the direct employer for any positions within this restaurant. With a focus on delivering the Del Taco brand's promise of quality food and excellent service, the franchisee is committed to fostering a positive work environment and cultivating strong community connections through outstanding customer experiences.

This particular role is that of Restaurant Manager, a key leadership position responsible for overseeing all aspects of restaurant operations in Modesto, CA. Reporting directly to the Area Director, the Restaurant Manager plays a pivotal role in protecting and promoting the Del Taco brand at the store level by driving sales growth and maximizing efficiency and profitability through the implementation of the Del Taco Way. This all-encompassing management role involves recruiting and retaining high-quality team members, ensuring full staff certification and training compliance, creating a service-oriented culture, and developing team members and future leaders within the restaurant.

The responsibilities extend beyond staffing and culture building, encompassing operational excellence with standards adherence in food quality, facility maintenance, equipment safety, cleanliness, uniform policies, and consistent customer service. The manager is accountable for achieving or exceeding sales targets by effectively assigning the right people to key roles based on projected customer traffic, promoting local store marketing initiatives, and staying attuned to local market conditions and competition.

Financial prudence is another critical component of the role, requiring the manager to manage staffing within sales volume constraints, comply with labor laws, control inventory and waste, ensure proper cash handling and audits, and administer safety and health standards. The Restaurant Manager must also oversee vendor relations, manage controllable costs, and adapt to changing conditions such as increased workloads or urgent scenarios.

Candidates in this role must have a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent, hold a ServSafe certification, and bring 3 to 5 years of experience within the quick-service or full-service restaurant industry. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, exceptional organizational abilities, analytical and problem solving skills, and the capacity to lead and motivate a diverse team are essential. The role demands self-motivation and the ability to perform well under pressure. Physical requirements include extended periods of standing, sitting, and computer use, occasional reaching, bending, and lifting, along with the necessity to travel between restaurant locations.

This position supports a dynamic and fast-paced environment, where managing multiple priorities concurrently is routine, and leadership is essential to ensuring both operational success and a positive customer experience. The employer offers an equal employment opportunity workplace, dedicated to providing a respectful and discrimination-free environment where all employees can thrive and grow professionally. The position is based at 1601 Standiford in Modesto, California, and offers an excellent opportunity for experienced restaurant managers eager to make a substantial impact within a respected brand and a locally owned franchise business.
