Out West Restaurant Group is the largest franchisee of Outback Steakhouse in the United States. Outback Steakhouse is a popular Australian-themed restaurant chain that first opened its doors in March 1988, renowned for its juicy steaks, spirited drinks, and warm Aussie hospitality. The company prides itself on creating a vibrant and hospitable culture where employees, affectionately called "Outbackers," are treated with respect and camaraderie. This positive and inclusive work environment encourages enthusiasm, dedication, and a strong commitment to quality service. Out West Restaurant Group has earned notable accolades, including being ranked in the Top 50 Franchisees in the U.S. for four consecutive years and receiving the International Franchise Association's Franchisee of the Year Award in 2022 for exemplary community service. The company also actively supports nonprofit organizations such as California Care and CORE, which provide critical aid to restaurant employees and their families during tough times. As an equal opportunity employer, Out West Restaurant Group embraces diversity and fairness, ensuring all employment decisions are made based on business needs, job requirements, and individual abilities without discrimination of any kind.
The Restaurant Manager role at Outback Steakhouse is a pivotal leadership position entrusted with managing the daily front of house (FOH) and back of house (BOH) operations. This role requires limited supervision while upholding the highest company standards and delivering exceptional customer experiences. Managers are responsible for providing professional guidance and mentorship to the team, ensuring a supportive and effective work environment. The position commences with an extensive Manager in Training (MIT) program that equips new managers with the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to succeed and excel as leaders within the Outback family. The training spans 11 weeks and covers all aspects of restaurant management, from operational procedures to people leadership.
Restaurant Managers at Outback Steakhouse play an integral role in optimizing profits by effectively managing labor costs and food and beverage inventory. They enforce company policies, maintain compliance, and uphold safety, sanitation, and quality standards. A key responsibility is to enhance customer satisfaction by delivering consistent, high-quality service that aligns with the brand's reputation. Managers are also tasked with continuous business growth by implementing sales and marketing strategies alongside recruiting and nurturing new talent to build a strong and capable team.
This position is ideal for candidates who have a passion for the food service industry, a knack for leadership, and the drive to foster a safe, clean, and organized restaurant environment. The role demands physical endurance and flexibility, including the ability to work in varied climates and environments, lift moderately heavy items, and stand or walk for long hours. Candidates must be highly proficient in verbal and written English communication and demonstrate adaptability to a fast-paced workplace. Additionally, for those based in California, obtaining Responsible Beverage Service Certification is required and supported during training.
Benefits offered include comprehensive health insurance (medical, dental, vision) available for individuals and families, paid vacation, a 401k retirement plan, life and disability insurance, paid sick leave, PerkSpot discounts, and a robust supplemental benefits package. Outback Steakhouse emphasizes a healthy work-life balance, targeting a 47-hour workweek, and offers a complimentary meal during manager shifts. The company culture honors hard work, perseverance, and leadership, creating an environment where employees are recognized and valued. Growth opportunities to upper management and development programs designed for future promotions make this role a promising career path for motivated professionals. If you seek a rewarding leadership position in a nationally recognized restaurant group committed to excellence, community engagement, and employee growth, joining Outback Steakhouse as a Restaurant Manager could be a perfect fit.
