Job Description

Denny's is a renowned American casual dining restaurant chain known for its round-the-clock service and delicious menu offerings, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner options. Established with a commitment to providing a welcoming and friendly environment, Denny's has become a popular choice for families, travelers, and local communities seeking a quality dining experience at any time of the day. The Modesto location on W. Orangeburg St is part of this extensive network of restaurants, operating under the Denny's brand with a dedication to upholding high standards of service, food quality, and guest satisfaction.

The position of Restaurant Manager at this Denny's location offers a dynamic and challenging role that is central to the operational success of the restaurant. Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Restaurant Manager is responsible for supervising a team of approximately 15 to 20 crew members, ensuring the effective execution of daily operations during assigned shifts. This role requires a hands-on leader who is committed to delivering an exceptional guest experience while maintaining rigorous service and quality standards. The Restaurant Manager works collaboratively with other Restaurant Managers and Hourly Supervisors to support the General Manager in achieving overall restaurant success.

Key responsibilities include managing employee selection and retention, driving continuous operational improvements, and overseeing financial aspects such as interpreting profit and loss statements, operating plans, and cost controls. The Restaurant Manager must be adaptable to work rotating day and night shifts, including weekends and holidays, reflecting the round-the-clock nature of Denny's operations. A strong emphasis is placed on guest satisfaction, with the manager expected to embody and promote the company's core principles and values in all interactions.

In addition to leadership duties, the Restaurant Manager plays a significant role in fostering a positive work environment. This includes creating a respectful and enjoyable atmosphere for employees, enforcing harassment-free policies, and utilizing corporate training programs to develop staff skills. The role demands proactive involvement in recruiting efforts and providing constructive coaching and feedback to ensure a motivated, high-performing team.

Operational accountability covers monitoring the Guests First Cycle to maintain service timeliness, ensuring adherence to Denny's brand standards in sanitation and food safety, and managing shift staffing and scheduling. The manager is also responsible for overseeing financial performance by working closely with the General Manager to address gaps in operating performance and manage budgets effectively.

Safety and security are paramount, with the Restaurant Manager tasked with enforcing security protocols to protect guests, employees, and company assets. Attention to asset management, including cash handling and inventory control, is essential to safeguard resources. Compliance with all relevant company policies and legal regulations at the state, local, and federal levels must be consistently maintained.

The physical demands of the role include the ability to lift weights up to 50 lbs, work extended shifts that can exceed 12 hours, tolerate temperature extremes within kitchen and freezer areas, and maintain mobility in confined workspaces. Being able to use point-of-sale systems accurately and handle various operational tasks is critical.

This position offers a competitive salary range of $66,580 to $67,580 annually, dependent on location and experience, highlighting Denny's commitment to attracting skilled managers who can contribute to the restaurant's growth and guest satisfaction. The Restaurant Manager role at Denny's Modesto location represents an excellent opportunity for individuals who possess strong leadership skills, operational expertise, and a passion for hospitality, aiming to make a meaningful impact in a well-established restaurant setting.
