Job Description
Sweetgreen is a nationally recognized fast casual restaurant brand committed to building healthier communities through real food. Founded in 2007, Sweetgreen has transformed the fast food industry by focusing on fresh, flavorful meals that emphasize relationships with farmers and local communities. This dedication to sustainability, quality, and wellness has enabled Sweetgreen to remain at the forefront of the healthy dining movement, inspiring a loyal customer base and creating positive impacts on the environment and society. Sweetgreen is deeply invested in the development and growth of its employees, providing a collaborative work culture founded on core company values that emphasize trust, recognition, and mentorship. The company offers competitive compensation, comprehensive benefits, and clear career pathways for professional growth within its restaurants and corporate support centers.
The role of Assistant Coach (Assistant General Manager) at Sweetgreen is a dynamic leadership position essential to the success of each store. As a hands-on leader, the Assistant Coach is responsible for supporting operational excellence, driving team engagement, and ensuring an exceptional guest experience aligned with the brand’s commitment to real food and healthier communities. This position requires a strategic thinker and mentor who collaborates closely with the Head Coach (General Manager) to set performance goals, analyze operational metrics, and navigate challenges effectively.
The Assistant Coach not only leads by example during peak times or staffing shortages but also plays a pivotal role in hiring, onboarding, and training team members. They foster a culture of trust and motivation where employees are empowered to grow into future leadership roles. Food safety and quality standards are a top priority, with the Assistant Coach overseeing compliance, cleanliness, and equipment maintenance, ensuring the store meets rigorous safety audits.
Customer experience is another critical area of focus. The Assistant Coach ensures that every guest encounter is welcoming, efficient, and memorable, maintaining both in-store and digital standards and leveraging guest feedback to continuously improve service delivery. Financial acumen is equally important, with responsibilities that include managing controllable costs, executing staff schedules, and driving sales initiatives through data-informed decisions.
This position offers competitive base pay with additional bonus potential, flexible scheduling for a minimum of 30 hours per week, and comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, and vision insurance plans, paid vacation and wellness time, and retirement savings options. It is an excellent opportunity for candidates passionate about leadership, sustainability, and community impact to make a meaningful difference in a fast-growing and values-driven organization.
