Job Description

California Pizza Kitchen (CPK) is a renowned casual dining restaurant chain known for pioneering California-style pizza and delivering exceptional culinary experiences since its inception in 1985. Established by Rick Rosenfield and Larry Flax, two former federal prosecutors who combined their passion for fresh ingredients and creative food concepts, CPK has grown into a beloved destination for food enthusiasts who appreciate innovative recipes, such as The Original BBQ Chicken, California Club, and Thai Chicken pizzas. The company has earned its reputation as a trailblazer in the pizza industry, standing alongside storied pizza cities like Chicago and New York, by offering a unique open-kitchen dining environment where guests can enjoy entertaining and freshly prepared meals.

CPK is not just a restaurant chain but a community that embraces a set of core values known as the ROCKS philosophy—Respect, Opportunity, Communication, Kindness, and Service. These principles govern how team members interact with each other, guests, and the community, creating a supportive and inclusive workplace that fosters personal and professional growth. The company prides itself on its one-of-a-kind culture, which encourages employees to be authentic, express their creativity, and contribute meaningfully to the brand’s ongoing success.

The role offered is for a Restaurant Manager position, a critical leadership role responsible for driving operational excellence and guest satisfaction while embodying the values that define CPK. This is a full-time position with a salary range between $70,000 and $75,000 USD, reflecting the company's commitment to offering industry-competitive compensation and benefits. The Restaurant Manager will lead a high-energy, fast-paced front-of-house team in delivering extraordinary guest experiences, managing all aspects of restaurant performance, and spearheading initiatives to foster team development and business growth.

The Restaurant Manager at CPK will oversee daily restaurant operations, including managing the Profit and Loss (P&L) statement, controlling labor costs, conducting portion control, preparing budgets, and analyzing financial variances to ensure profitability. They will play a vital role in building and inspiring a hospitality-driven team, fostering a positive culture centered on exceptional service and culinary execution. The manager will also be a key communicator, adept at interacting with employees, guests, suppliers, and senior management to align operations with corporate goals.

CPK offers a comprehensive eight-week training program that blends digital learning, hands-on coaching, and mentoring to equip new managers with the skills required for success. The company’s unique electronic learning platform, “The Proof,” supports continuous development through engaging educational tools designed to enhance leadership capabilities. In addition to professional growth opportunities, employees have access to a generous benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, disability insurance, and a 401K plan. The workplace emphasizes work-life balance and community support, featuring perks such as employee meals, a Management Dine-Out card, and a charitable Kindness Fund to assist team members facing life challenges.

As a company that values inclusivity and equal opportunity, CPK welcomes applicants from diverse backgrounds and maintains a non-discriminatory approach in hiring practices. The Restaurant Manager role is a chance to join a company that not only prioritizes operational success but also deeply cares about its people and culture. If you are passionate about hospitality, leadership, and making an impact in a dynamic and supportive environment, CPK invites you to be bold, be epic, and be you!
