Job Description
This job posting is for a restaurant operated by an independent franchisee of Del Taco, which means that if hired, the franchisee, not Del Taco LLC, will be your official employer. The franchisee oversees all aspects of employment including hiring, firing, discipline, wages, supervision, staffing, and scheduling. This employer takes pride in offering a dedicated and supportive work environment that nurtures team development, quality service, and operational excellence. The restaurant is part of the well-known Del Taco brand, a prominent quick-service restaurant that specializes in Mexican cuisine with a commitment to unique flavors and customer satisfaction. Del Taco is known for its dedication to quality food, cleanliness, and offering a fun, family-friendly dining experience. The franchisee is committed to maintaining these high standards while fostering a positive workplace and community atmosphere.
The role of Restaurant Manager reporting to the Area Director is a pivotal leadership position responsible for protecting and delivering the Del Taco brand experience. The Restaurant Manager’s primary objective is to grow sales and maximize efficiency and profitability of the restaurant by leading the team in alignment with the Del Taco Way. The position is dynamic and involves managing multiple facets of restaurant operations to ensure a high-quality guest experience, smooth workflow, and financial success. The Restaurant Manager will lead by example, ensuring all team members are engaged, trained, and motivated to achieve service excellence.
Key responsibilities include staffing the restaurant with quality employees by recruiting, hiring, and retaining a talented team. Training and certification of all employees according to company standards is mandatory to maintain consistent quality across the operation. The manager cultivates a customer-focused, service-oriented culture promoting fun and teamwork in the workplace. Employee performance evaluation is continual, with recommendations for salary increases, disciplinary actions, suspensions, or terminations being part of the duties. Developing team members and future managers is essential for succession planning and business continuity.
Operational standards are rigorously upheld, including maintaining the facility and customer areas, ensuring all equipment is operational and safe, and delivering products that meet Del Taco quality standards every time. Adherence to cleaning schedules, proper uniform standards, a consistent service experience, and proper point of purchase (POP) signage are closely monitored. The manager achieves sales goals through clear communication of daily, weekly, and annual targets, personnel planning, increasing customer counts and average checks, and leveraging local marketing opportunities.
Profitability is driven by aligning staffing with sales, complying with labor laws, efficient inventory management, strict cash handling procedures, cash audits, safety and health compliance, and cost control of maintenance, supplies, and vendor services. The Restaurant Manager may also take on additional responsibilities as needed based on changing circumstances like emergencies or workload fluctuations. The role requires a proactive, problem-solving mindset combined with excellent organizational skills and the ability to work well under pressure.
This role requires at least a high school diploma or equivalent, 3 to 5 years of experience in QSR or full-service restaurant management, and ServSafe certification. Fluency in English is required, and Spanish is a plus. Strong communication, interpersonal, analytical, and leadership skills are vital. Physical requirements include standing, sitting, typing, reaching, bending, and lifting during restaurant and office duties, as well as the ability to drive to multiple restaurant locations, sometimes requiring overnight travel. A valid driver’s license and proof of vehicle insurance are mandatory.
The employer is committed to equal employment opportunity and maintaining a workplace free of discrimination and harassment. Employees are hired on an at-will basis, and all job duties may be adjusted as necessary. This Restaurant Manager role offers a challenging yet rewarding opportunity to lead a vibrant team and drive the success of a popular quick-service restaurant brand.
