Job Description
This job opportunity is with a restaurant operated by an independent franchisee of Del Taco, a well-known fast-food brand that specializes in Mexican-inspired cuisine. The restaurant is not directly managed by Del Taco LLC but is independently owned and run, which means that all employment matters such as hiring, firing, discipline, wages, supervision, staffing, and scheduling are handled solely by the franchisee. This structure allows for localized management with a dedicated focus on delivering the Del Taco experience while ensuring operational flexibility tailored to the community and clientele served.
Del Taco is renowned for its quality menu offerings, commitment to customer satisfaction, and strong brand reputation nationwide. The franchise itself is dedicated to maintaining high standards in food preparation, customer service, and operational efficiency to deliver a memorable dining experience. This role provides an excellent opportunity to be part of that mission by leading the restaurant in a hands-on managerial capacity.
The position of Restaurant Manager is crucial as the leader responsible for upholding the integrity of the Del Taco brand within the specific location. Reporting to the Area Director, the Restaurant Manager oversees every aspect of restaurant operations with the goal of growing sales, maximizing profitability, and ensuring a consistent and enjoyable customer experience. This management role requires a combination of leadership, organizational skills, and operational expertise to effectively run the daily activities of the restaurant.
Responsibilities include fully staffing the store with high-quality team members, ensuring that the entire crew is properly trained and certified following the current training standards, and fostering a service-oriented work culture centered on teamwork and fun. The Restaurant Manager evaluates employee performance, recommends salary adjustments, manages disciplinary actions, and helps develop career growth opportunities for team members. This role is not only about operational success but also about building and growing employees into future leaders within the brand.
Additionally, the Restaurant Manager is charged with maintaining all operational standards consistently—ranging from facility cleanliness and equipment maintenance to product quality and adherence to food safety protocols. The position demands close attention to detail to ensure that customer areas are welcoming and that all Point of Purchase (POP) signage is properly placed and up to date.
From a sales and marketing perspective, the Restaurant Manager is expected to drive performance by setting and communicating clear sales goals, optimizing staffing based on projected customer demand, and executing local store marketing initiatives to attract and retain customers. They must stay informed about the local market dynamics, competitive landscape, and community events that impact customer traffic and sales.
Financial accountability is also a significant aspect of the job. The manager must ensure labor costs are in line with sales, comply with labor laws, manage inventory effectively to minimize waste and deter theft, and oversee cash handling procedures. Safety and health standards must be rigorously upheld to create a safe work environment for all employees and guests.
This is a dynamic role that requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a flexible attitude to adapt to changing workloads or emergencies. The successful candidate will exhibit excellent communication skills, be detail-oriented, and able to lead diverse teams under pressure. Knowledge of the Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) industry, coupled with a ServSafe certification, will equip the manager to excel in this role.
Overall, the Restaurant Manager plays an integral role in the success of the franchise unit, ensuring that every customer enjoys the distinct Del Taco experience delivered through quality food and exceptional service. This position offers a chance to grow professionally within a thriving business model while making a meaningful impact in the local community and the brand’s legacy.
