Job Description
On the Go is a leader in elevating the dining and retail experience for travelers, committed to blending world-class hospitality, award-winning dining concepts, and cutting-edge technology across more than 300 unique locations in North America's busiest airports. This dynamic company thrives by creating exceptional guest experiences powered every day by its dedicated Crewmembers. Known for putting people first, On the Go invests heavily in its teams, fostering growth and providing an exciting, fast-paced environment where everyone has the opportunity to excel. The company culture centers on core values such as Care, Continuous Improvement, Quality, and Teamwork, all of which play a crucial role in how the organization operates and serves its diverse clientele. They prioritize an inclusive, safe, and uplifting workplace environment where employees feel respected, empowered, and encouraged to bring their whole selves to work.
The role of Manager at On the Go, located at EWR, is a pivotal position responsible for driving operational excellence across multiple dining and retail concepts. Reporting directly to the General Manager, this full-time role offers a competitive annual salary ranging from $60,000 to $75,000 plus eligibility for a performance-based bonus. The Manager is charged with leading day-to-day operations to ensure smooth, efficient service delivery in the fast-paced airport environment. This includes overseeing various food service segments, such as quick-service restaurants (QSR), retail outlets, and full-service dining venues, with a keen focus on maintaining high standards of quality and presentation for all food and beverage products.
A critical aspect of the Manager's job is leading and inspiring a team of Crewmembers by setting the tone for high energy, sharp service, and an overall exceptional guest experience. The Manager handles essential operational responsibilities like scheduling and staffing to ensure every shift is adequately supported, maintaining a seamless flow of operations. Moreover, they spearhead the onboarding and training programs to equip new hires with the knowledge and skills necessary for success within the company. This leadership role also fosters a positive work culture where Crewmembers feel supported, respected, and motivated to perform at their best.
Safety and compliance are also top priorities for the Manager, who is responsible for enforcing workplace safety standards and OTG policies. They must maintain a hazard-free environment and ensure full compliance with all relevant laws and internal protocols. Additionally, the Manager will address audit outcomes swiftly and effectively, driving corrective action where necessary to uphold operational integrity. Effective communication of company policies, including those outlined in the Crewmember Handbook and collective bargaining agreements (CBA), is crucial for consistency and team alignment.
This position requires a versatile leader comfortable with the demands of a fluctuating schedule that includes early mornings, nights, weekends, holidays, and even challenging weather conditions. Strong communication skills, proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, and a background in hospitality management—preferably with 3 to 5 years of experience in managing full-service restaurants or retail operations—are essential to thrive in this role. Experience in multi-unit management is considered an added advantage.
Joining On the Go means becoming part of a reputable company that values diversity and equal opportunity, welcoming applicants from all backgrounds to apply. This role embodies the chance to contribute significantly to a vibrant company culture and to a team that prioritizes excellence in every guest interaction, making it an exciting and rewarding career opportunity.
