Job Description
Out West Restaurant Group is the largest franchisee of Outback Steakhouse in the United States. Outback Steakhouse is a well-known Australian themed restaurant that opened its doors in March 1988. At its core, Outback Steakhouse is a place where food is taken seriously, but fun is never forgotten. The restaurant is famous for its juicy steaks, spirited drinks, and warm Aussie hospitality, creating a dining experience that is both memorable and enjoyable for customers. Out West Restaurant Group prides itself on treating its employees, known as "Outbackers," with respect and camaraderie, creating a workplace culture that emphasizes enthusiasm, fairness, and opportunity. The company believes that treating people "Just Right" fosters success, leading to a positive environment where employees can thrive and grow.
Out West Restaurant Group is an equal opportunity employer committed to providing a respectful and inclusive workplace. The company does not discriminate based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, or any other protected status. Employment decisions are made based on business needs, job requirements, and individual qualifications, adhering to both federal and state laws. Recognized for excellence, the group has earned prestigious awards such as the Monitor 200 Award for ranking in the Top 50 franchisees in the US for four consecutive years and the International Franchise Association’s Franchisee of the Year Award in 2022 for exemplary community service. They also contribute to nonprofit organizations like California Care and CORE, which support restaurant employees and their families during challenging times.
The position offered is a Restaurant Manager role based at Outback Steakhouse locations under Out West Restaurant Group. This management position requires an individual to oversee the daily operations of both front-of-house (FOH) and back-of-house (BOH) functions. With limited supervision, the Restaurant Manager ensures that company standards are upheld, customer experiences are exceptional, and staff are professionally led and directed. New managers undergo a comprehensive Manager in Training (MIT) program that spans 11 weeks on-site, designed to equip them with the skills and knowledge to succeed as top-tier leaders within the Outback family.
The Restaurant Manager will be responsible for creating a positive environment for employees by providing mentorship and leadership to a team. This role focuses on optimizing profits through effective labor management and controlling food and beverage costs via proper ordering and inventory control. The manager must ensure that policies and procedures are followed, maintaining strict compliance with safety, sanitation, and food handling standards at all times. Customer satisfaction is a priority, and the manager is tasked with managing service standards to foster repeat business and continuous growth through sales and marketing efforts.
This position offers a competitive salary range of $68,000 to $75,000, along with a robust benefits package that includes comprehensive health insurance (medical, dental, vision) for individuals and families, a 401k retirement plan, paid vacation and sick leave, group life and disability insurance, and additional perks such as PerkSpot discounts and an employee assistance program. The company promotes work-life balance targeting a 47-hour work week. Managers receive complimentary shift meals and have access to development programs aimed at future promotions and career growth within the organization. This role demands flexibility, as candidates may need to work at various locations within the region when required. Overall, this is a unique opportunity for a motivated individual to join a leading restaurant group that values leadership, excellence, and a supportive culture.
