We are currently seeking a dedicated full-time or part-time Restaurant Line Cook to join our culinary team here at Chuy's - I-Shops in Orlando, FL. This role is essential in ensuring that every dish served meets our high standards for quality, presentation, and safety. Operating under the guidance of the culinary management team, the line cook will be responsible for preparing menu items to exact recipe and plating specifications, efficiently managing the cooking station, and maintaining cleanliness and organization throughout their shift. This position demands a balance of speed, precision, and teamwork to meet daily productivity goals while upholding the brand's reputation.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to maintain composure in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating strong communication and cooperation skills to work effectively with kitchen and service staff. Physical stamina is important, as the position requires standing for long periods, sometimes up to 10 hours, and working in a kitchen environment that may experience variable temperatures. While prior food handling certification such as ServSafe is beneficial, it is not mandatory at the start of employment and can be earned during the course of the job.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience as a line cook or in a similar kitchen role preferred
  • Understanding of basic food safety and sanitation standards
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to follow directions and work under supervision

Job Qualifications

  • Ability to communicate and perform as part of a team
  • Ability to memorize and replicate recipe/menu item production procedures
  • Possess the physical stamina to stand working for up to 10 hours
  • Consistently capable of meeting deadlines and production goals with limited supervision
  • Comfortable working in an environment that may experience significant temperature changes
  • Handle stressful situations in a positive and supportive manner
  • ServSafe (Food Handlers Certification) is a plus but can be obtained after starting

Job Duties

  • Adhering to all food safety and workplace sanitation requirements
  • Ensures every item on station is produced to exact recipe and plating specifications
  • Meets daily productivity standards as established by kitchen management
  • Sets up station with sufficient product and utensils and prepares cooking and food holding equipment to ensure the station is ready for meal service
  • Prioritizes cooking and preparation times of each order to ensure timely delivery of guest meals
  • Willingly adjusts ingredients and menu item preparation standards to accommodate guest special preparation requests
  • Sets the next meal shift up for success by properly cleaning work stations, equipment and utensils, and maintaining an organized food storage area
  • Executes all position responsibilities in the spirit of proactive teamwork and cooperation
  • Makes sure all duties and sidework have been completed to standard at the end of their shift
  • Performs additional tasks and projects as assigned
