The position available is for a Restaurant Host, a vital role within the dining operations at Pebble Beach Resorts. As a Restaurant Host, the individual will serve as the welcoming face of the dining experience, warmly greeting guests and managing dining room reservations to ensure smooth seating and service flow. This dynamic role requires overseeing cleanliness and proper setup of the dining area, coordinating with staff about table settings, and ensuring gracious and professional guest interactions from arrival to departure.

The Restaurant Host will manage the reservation book, accurately assign table numbers, and maintain a waiting list, all the while confirming large parties and adapting to any special event setups. The position also involves answering telephone calls, taking reservations, and providing directions and menu information to guests. Maintaining communication between guests and dining staff is key to resolving issues and enhancing the overall guest experience. Additionally, the host will assist with beverage service, provide necessary documentation such as the captain's list, and complete daily labor reports.

This role demands excellent organizational and multitasking skills, exceptional customer service capabilities, and the ability to remain professional and efficient in a high-volume, sometimes fast-paced environment. A food safety certification and a minimum of one-year experience as a host in a busy restaurant setting are essential qualifications. A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Job Duties

  • Oversee and assist in maintaining cleanliness of outlet
  • describe table settings to busser whenever set-up differs from the usual
  • ensure coverage of the entrance greeting arriving guests and thanking those that are leaving
  • assist with special event set-up such as skirting buffet or inserting menu cards
  • check reservations in book and assign table numbers
  • ensure availability for resort guests
  • call to confirm large parties
  • check schedule and staffing levels
  • check all menus for cleanliness and accuracy
  • answer the telephone take reservations and give directions to restaurant
  • maintain waiting list select table and escort guests to the table
  • resolve guest problems whenever possible and direct communication with manager
  • answer questions regarding menu items
  • schedule reservations according to established procedures
  • take beverage order and serve drinks when necessary provide captain's list when necessary
  • bring guests' needs to the attention of appropriate dining room staff or management
  • complete daily labor report
  • assign stations to wait staff
  • comply with all Pebble Beach Company safety health and general policies and procedures
