The host is responsible for greeting guests warmly and managing dining room reservations, ensuring a seamless dining experience. This role requires overseeing and assisting in maintaining the cleanliness of dining areas, describing unique table settings to bussers, managing reservation books and assigning tables, and confirming bookings for large parties. Additionally, the host manages the entrance coverage by greeting arriving guests and thanking departing ones, assists with special event setups such as buffet skirting and menu card insertion, and performs other operational tasks like checking menus for cleanliness and accuracy, answering telephones to take reservations, and maintaining waiting lists.

Furthermore, the Restaurant Host helps coordinate staffing levels and scheduling, assigns stations to wait staff, completes daily labor reports, and ensures strict adherence to Pebble Beach Company’s safety, health, and general policies. The position demands excellent customer service skills, the ability to manage stressful situations while maintaining professionalism, and the capacity to stand for long periods. Candidates must have a minimum of one year’s experience as a host in a high-volume restaurant environment, a high school diploma or equivalent, and a current food safety certification. Additionally, knowledge of Microsoft Office and POS (point of sale) systems is considered beneficial.
