Job Requirements

Job Duties

  • greet and seat guests in the restaurant using all the techniques and steps outlined in the service standards of Marriott hotels
  • ensure that each guest is greeted with warm, friendly enthusiasm and seated at his/her table in the fastest possible time
  • set the tone of aggressive hospitality throughout the restaurant during the entire meal period
  • supervise and control seating to balance server workload fairly
  • seat guests to ensure fastest and most courteous service at all times
  • report to work in proper uniform and grooming standards
  • follow all departmental rules and regulations such as calls for coming in, red sticker policy, requesting time off
  • comply with Marriott's clean as you go policy
  • check with supervisor before leaving work area
  • follow host/ess opening and closing checklist thoroughly
  • assign stations and sidework to servers according to schedules
  • maintain guest flow charts to track guest volume and seating
  • ensure there is always a greeter at the restaurant entrance
  • keep the front of the restaurant spotless
  • check every table for cleanliness and proper setup before seating guests
  • monitor guest feedback on meals and service and promptly address issues
  • schedule server breaks in coordination with supervisor based on business volume
  • assist in service during busy times
  • have excellent knowledge of local area and transportation to assist guests
  • possess thorough menu knowledge to answer guest questions and offer suggestions
  • be knowledgeable about hotel services and operating hours of food and beverage outlets
  • ensure servers complete their shift tasks properly
  • check associates for proper appearance and uniforms
  • communicate necessary information to incoming staff and log messages
  • conduct menu classes and taste panels with supervisors and kitchen staff
  • relieve cashiers for breaks
  • supervise lounge service as assigned by management
  • verbally communicate effectively with guests and coworkers
  • work quickly and efficiently under pressure
  • stand and/or walk for prolonged periods
  • visually inspect work areas
  • perform minimum lifting of 30 pounds
