The role of Host/Hostess at Augustino's Restaurant is pivotal to the smooth operation and overall guest satisfaction in the dining experience. This hourly non-exempt position is compensated at $13.00 per hour and involves welcoming guests with warm, friendly enthusiasm, efficiently seating them, and managing the overall flow of guests to ensure an enjoyable dining atmosphere. The working hours typically cover split shifts from 7:00 am to 1:30 pm and 5:00 pm to 9:30 pm, adjusting as guest demand fluctuates.

Job Duties

  • Greet and seat guests using Marriott service standards
  • Ensure guests are greeted warmly and seated promptly
  • Set a tone of aggressive hospitality throughout meal periods
  • Supervise and control seating to balance server workload
  • Seat guests to ensure fast and courteous service
  • Report to work in proper uniform and grooming standards
  • Follow all departmental rules and regulations
  • Comply with Marriott's clean as you go policy
  • Check with supervisor before leaving work area
  • Follow host/hostess opening and closing checklist
  • Assign stations and sidework to servers
  • Maintain guest flow charts tracking volume per hour
  • Ensure a greeter is at the entrance at all times
  • Keep the front of the restaurant spotless
  • Check tables for cleanliness and setup before seating guests
  • Gather guest feedback and address problems immediately
  • Schedule server breaks in coordination with supervisor
  • Assist in service when needed
  • Maintain excellent knowledge of city and transportation
  • Know wines and menu for guest assistance
  • Understand hotel services and outlet hours
  • Check out servers after shifts ensuring tasks are completed
  • Monitor proper associate appearance and uniforms
  • Communicate with incoming host/hostess and supervisors
  • Conduct menu classes and taste panels
  • Relieve cashiers for breaks
  • Supervise lounge service as assigned
