Job Description
Alderbrook Resort & Spa is a renowned luxury resort located on the scenic Hood Canal in Union, Washington. Known for its breathtaking natural surroundings, exceptional hospitality, and upscale amenities, the resort offers guests a perfect blend of serenity and adventure. Catering to travelers seeking high-quality accommodations, gourmet dining, and rejuvenating spa experiences, Alderbrook Resort & Spa has established itself as a premier destination in the Pacific Northwest. The resort employs a diverse and inclusive workforce, fostering a supportive, collaborative work environment where employee growth and career advancement are prioritized. Alderbrook Resort & Spa is dedicated to providing a memorable guest experience and maintains a strong commitment to equal employment opportunities and accessibility for all employees.
The current opening is for a Restaurant Host / Hostess on a part-time, seasonal basis with an hourly pay rate ranging from $18 to $24, which includes a base wage of $17.13 per hour plus average hourly tips. This role is essential as it represents the first point of contact for guests entering the resort’s restaurant, setting the tone for an exceptional dining experience. Employed part-time, working less than 30 hours per week through the summer of 2026, the successful candidate will be part of a vibrant team dedicated to delivering hospitable, authentic, and engaging service.
As a Restaurant Host / Hostess, the employee is responsible for warmly greeting guests upon arrival, managing the seating flow efficiently, and accommodating guests’ preferences and special seating requests. The host acts as a key liaison between guests and the service staff, ensuring smooth communication and a positive atmosphere throughout the dining area. Additional duties include answering reservation phone calls, maintaining knowledge of floor charts and menu details, assisting with table clearing and resetting when necessary, and delivering courteous interactions that encourage guest return visits. The position requires excellent posture, appearance consistent with Alderbrook Resort & Spa standards, and an ability to engage in friendly, professional conversation.
This role involves both customer service and teamwork elements, as the host will assist bus staff with side work and collaborate closely with servers to maintain the restaurant's flow and ambiance. Knowledge of restaurant layout, reservation policies, and menu ingredients is crucial, alongside the physical capability to perform tasks such as standing for extended periods, handling moderate lifting, and manoeuvring around the dining area efficiently. The seasonal host position offers employees valuable experience in hospitality, a welcoming work environment, and exclusive access to resort amenities such as free meals and equipment rentals. Alderbrook Resorts & Spa supports its staff with on-the-job training and development opportunities, encouraging career growth in the hospitality industry within a beautiful natural setting. This makes the position attractive for individuals seeking to build skills and gain experience in the restaurant and resort service sectors.
