The role of Host/Hostess at Stonebridge is a pivotal position that serves as the first point of contact for guests, enhancing the overall dining experience from the moment they enter the restaurant. This full-time, non-exempt position reports directly to the Food & Beverage Manager and offers an hourly pay rate of $21.30. The Host/Hostess is responsible for greeting guests warmly, managing seating arrangements efficiently, and assisting with reservations using the property reservation system. They also ensure guests’ questions are answered, seating charts are maintained, and special requests including large parties are accommodated with professionalism and care.

Beyond greeting and seating guests, the Host/Hostess contributes to the smooth operation of the restaurant by performing opening and closing duties and supporting food and beverage staff with side-work and setup tasks. This role demands excellent communication and interpersonal skills, strong organizational abilities, and a working knowledge of the restaurant’s menu, operating hours, promotions, and specials to provide accurate information and assist guests effectively. The position requires physical stamina to stand and walk for long periods and the capability to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds.

  • Prior customer service experience preferably in a restaurant or hospitality environment
  • Ability to manage reservations and seating arrangements efficiently
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with guests professionally
  • Knowledge of restaurant operations, menu offerings, and promotions
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic for tasks such as totaling costs and making change
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs occasionally
  • Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Must be able to work in an indoor environment with some temperature changes

Job Duties

  • Greet guests and escort them to their seats in a courteous manner
  • Present menus and answer guest questions regarding the food and service
  • Manage seating arrangements based on restaurant activity and reservations
  • Perform opening and closing duties ensuring the restaurant is ready for service
  • Assist food and beverage staff with side-work and setup as needed
  • Maintain knowledge of operating hours, menu items, promotions, and specials to assist guests
  • Respond to guest inquiries and ensure their needs are met efficiently
  • Create and manage reservations using the property reservation system
  • Maintain seating charts and confirm reservations including large parties and special requests
  • Ensure a clean and organized work environment at all times
  • Assist with the setup and cleaning of function rooms when necessary
  • Attend department meetings and complete assigned projects
