The Host Cashier role at Bob Evans is integral to the guest dining experience. This position acts as the frontline ambassador, greeting guests with warmth and professionalism, managing the flow in the dining area, and ensuring a welcoming environment. A Host Cashier not only seats guests efficiently but also monitors guest needs and patiently handles wait times to make every visit enjoyable. Responsibilities include providing menus, assisting with clean and safe dining areas, answering phones, and processing transactions accurately. This full-time/part-time position requires standing for long periods, handling cash and credit transactions with precision, and maintaining cleanliness in the lobby, bakery, and retail areas. Job Requirements

  • 0-2 years related experience
  • Strong knowledge of restaurant concepts, practices, and procedures
  • Ability to stand for entire shift and walk for long periods without rest
  • Ability to push, lift, carry and transfer up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to reach with hands
  • Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls
  • Ability to bend and stoop
  • Ability to verbally communicate with others
  • Ability to use close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
  • Ability to freely access all areas of restaurant including selling floor(s), stock area, and register area

Job Qualifications

  • Excellent guest service skills and experience
  • Ability to identify and resolve issues as they arise
  • Detailed oriented with the ability to multi-task
  • Ability to prioritize, good organizational skills
  • Must have ability to accurately handle money, make change, process credit card transactions and have strong menu knowledge
  • Computer skills (POS system)
  • 0-2 years related experience
  • Strong knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in a restaurant
  • Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals

Job Duties

  • Greet guest in a friendly, warm, and welcoming manner and escort guests to tables
  • Monitors guests’ needs and the flow of the restaurant and seats guests accordingly
  • Delivers the appropriate number of menus, kid packs if needed when seating guests
  • Performs restroom checks, answers phone, keeps lobby, bakery and retail areas clean of debris, and keeping the general work area stocked and cleaned
  • Practices safe food and beverage handling
  • Communicates and interacts with guests, can handle crowds, and put guests at ease while they wait for their table or carryout order
  • Shows guests you care and ask them about their dining experience
  • Effectively handles guest complaints and involves manager at appropriate time
  • Handles cash and credit transactions
  • accurately accounts for all receivables including cash, credit cards, and gift cards
  • Assist in marketing, promotional services and situational selling, such as communicating new promotions, products, or marketing information to guest
  • Clears, sanitizes, and sets tables as needed
  • Manage guests wait times by working with managers to quote accurate wait times
  • May be asked to assist in other job categories as well
  • All other duties as assigned
