This newly expanded venue features a grab-n-go restaurant, the elegant Oliver's Chophouse & Bourbon Bar, a Kentucky Derby-themed hotel, and vibrant live music entertainment. Recognized as one of the 'Best Places to Work in Greater Louisville' by Louisville Business First, Derby City Gaming & Hotel boasts a dynamic and welcoming atmosphere that values guest satisfaction and employee excellence alike.
As part of the team at Oliver's Chophouse and Bourbon Bar, the Host plays a critical role in delivering exceptional food and beverage service by managing the guest seating process efficiently and maintaining a fluid dining room experience. This full-time position requires a person who thrives in a fast-paced, high-energy environment, capable of balancing attention to detail with a warm and inviting guest presence. The Host must excel in interpersonal communication to greet and seat guests warmly upon arrival and send them off with a positive impression, ensuring that each visitor’s experience starts and ends on a high note.
Key responsibilities include adhering strictly to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of the host podium and dining room, and effectively utilizing communication devices such as telephones, two-way radios, guest paging systems, and table management software. The role demands a professional demeanor, consistent attention to guest needs, and a commitment to upholding the standards of hospitality and service that Oliver's Chophouse and Bourbon Bar are known for. Additionally, the Host supports guest loyalty efforts by fostering meaningful interactions and helping to create an inviting atmosphere that encourages repeat visits.
Given its environment within a gaming and hotel complex, working at Derby City Gaming & Hotel requires adaptability to various noise levels and the ability to navigate bustling spaces, including player and machine areas. The position mandates flexibility in scheduling, including availability on weekends, holidays, and evenings, making it an excellent opportunity for motivated individuals eager to contribute to a highly regarded hospitality team. Experience in customer service or food and beverage roles is preferred, along with the capability to obtain and maintain a valid Kentucky gaming/racing license. Prior experience with Open Table or similar reservation and table management systems is also advantageous.
Overall, the Host at Oliver's Chophouse and Bourbon Bar is an ambassador of the Derby City Gaming & Hotel brand, tasked with ensuring guests feel welcomed, valued, and eager to return. This role offers not just a job but a rewarding career opportunity within a notable Louisville entertainment and hospitality landmark, committed to excellence in service and the guest experience.
