Job Description

Urban Plates is a premium fast-casual restaurant chain that started in 2011 in Del Mar, California. Founded by two food industry veterans who were determined to offer a new kind of dining experience, Urban Plates emphasizes freshly made food prepared from scratch using high-quality, sustainably grown, and ethically treated ingredients. The restaurant is committed to making wholesome meals accessible to all at honest prices without compromising on flavor or nutrition. Based in California with 22 locations statewide, Urban Plates has built a reputation for its welcoming atmosphere and clean, craveable food offerings. The company's culture centers on inclusivity, respect, and community connection, always striving to change the way the world eats, one plate at a time.

The Hospitality Team Member (Front of House) at Urban Plates plays a vital role in delivering exceptional guest experiences. This role involves providing superior customer service as guests navigate the service line and dining areas, maintaining the cleanliness of the front-of-house spaces including dining areas, patios, and restrooms, and actively engaging in suggestive selling of beverages and pastries to enhance the guest experience. The position is paid at an hourly rate ranging from $16.90 to $21.74 including potential tips, and offers various flexible scheduling options suited for full-time or part-time employment.

Urban Plates supports its team members with extensive training programs for both front and back-of-house positions, ensuring that all staff are well-prepared and capable of excelling in their roles. Beyond basic compensation, team members can also earn additional rewards through Urban Plates’ recognition programs, with top performers historically gaining substantial bonuses. The company also promotes career advancement through leadership development and career growth initiatives. Employees enjoy a culture that values transparency, empowerment, and belonging, with a focus on personal and professional development. The working environment is designed to be positive, energetic, yet comfortable, creating an inviting vibe that enhances both the team member and guest experience.

Beyond the role itself, Urban Plates offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes an innovative Health & Wellness Plan available to all team members for just $12 a month. This plan covers services such as counseling, telemedicine, dental discounts, hearing care, fitness memberships, contact lenses, and diabetic supplies. Additional benefits include paid sick time, substantial meal discounts, health, dental, and vision insurance options, life and disability insurance, employee assistance programs, accident and hospital indemnity insurance, flexible spending accounts, pet insurance, and a 401(k) plan for eligible employees. The company also offers an Emergency Grant Program to support team members in need and emphasizes a supportive workplace culture that awards hard work and outstanding achievement. Urban Plates is an equal opportunity employer and complies fully with all relevant laws related to workplace diversity, accommodation, and inclusion.
