The role of Restaurant General Manager at Hypsi and Bar Daphne is a full-time leadership position that reports directly to the Executive Chef and collaborates closely with the Hotel General Manager and Bunkhouse corporate Food and Beverage leadership. This role is pivotal in overseeing the daily operations of the restaurant and bar, ensuring seamless execution of both regular service and special events. The General Manager is responsible for fostering a culture of excellence by upholding the company’s values and standards of hospitality, service quality, and operational efficiency. With a hands-on management style, the successful candidate will lead a diverse team of bartenders, servers, hosts, and support staff, driving recruitment, training, employee development, and performance evaluations.

In addition to managing front-of-house activities, the Restaurant General Manager is expected to maintain rigorous standards for food and beverage quality, service presentation, and cleanliness throughout the establishment. The role demands a proactive approach to operational planning, budgeting, forecasting, and inventory control, incorporating payroll oversight and close coordination with hotel departments to maximize guest satisfaction. Handling guest concerns effectively and implementing procedures to continually improve the customer and associate experience are also key responsibilities. The candidate must demonstrate excellent communication and conflict resolution skills and a thorough understanding of both Bunkhouse and Hyatt policies and standards to ensure regulatory compliance and brand consistency.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in hospitality management or related field preferred
  • minimum 5 years of restaurant management experience
  • strong leadership and communication skills
  • ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • proficiency in POS and payroll systems
  • food safety certification such as Serve Safe
  • experience with budget management and cost control
  • ability to resolve conflict effectively

Job Qualifications

  • Leadership in an upscale restaurant experience preferred, seeking 5+ years of managing and leading a team
  • strong knowledge of food, beverage, and service standards
  • private and small event execution
  • experience in menu engineering and cost evaluation
  • experience in POS programming and maintenance
  • payroll and tip handling experience
  • must be able to navigate all food and beverage areas and consistently perform essential job functions
  • proficiency in using moderately complex computer systems is necessary
  • ability to assess product quality through smell, taste, and appearance is essential
  • serve safe or similar food safety certification
  • boutique and or luxury hotel restaurant experience a plus but not required
  • dining and beverage programming experience such as holiday planning, dj booking, marketing support
  • toast POS proficiency
  • evention and UKG or similar payroll system use
  • wine certificate such as WSET or similar

Job Duties

  • Responsible for short and long-term planning and the management of the food and beverage operations in the front and back of the house
  • develop high standards of service, presentation and cleanliness standards
  • lead and assist in the recruitment and selection of your staff for bartenders, barbacks, servers, hosts, etc.
  • direct and oversee development of employees
  • hire, train, empower, coach and counsel, performance, and salary reviews
  • direct the implementation of the payroll, reports, forecasts, inventory and budget for food and beverage operations
  • coordinate food and beverage operations for your restaurant and other hotel departments to ensure efficient guest service
  • resolve customer complaints as appropriate to maintain a high level of customer satisfaction and quality
  • implement procedures to increase guest and associate satisfaction
  • exercise quality control for both food and beverage
  • maintain bunkhouse/hyatt standards of service and ensure their implementation
  • performing daily walk-through to ensure full compliance with department of health regulations and hyatt corporate standards
  • maintain communications with corporate staff
  • coach and counsel employees to reflect bunkhouse and hyatt service standards and procedures
  • train and lead the monthly inventory process, ensuring existing partnership with finance department is elevated
