Job Description

BURGER KING is a globally recognized fast food restaurant chain renowned for its high-quality, great-tasting, and affordable food. Founded in 1954, it has grown to become the second largest fast food hamburger chain in the world. Known as the original HOME OF THE WHOPPER, BURGER KING has built a legacy on its commitment to premium ingredients, signature recipes, and family-friendly dining experiences. Every day, more than 11 million guests visit BURGER KING restaurants worldwide, attracted by its consistent quality and welcoming atmosphere. The company fosters a dynamic and inclusive workplace, encouraging team members to grow and excel in their roles. BURGER KING is also an equal opportunity employer, promoting diversity and inclusion among its workforce.

The Restaurant General Manager (RGM) at BURGER KING plays a pivotal role as the executive leader of a single restaurant. This full-time position carries the crucial responsibility of overseeing the daily operations, ensuring profitability, delivering exceptional guest experiences, leading the team, and maintaining operational standards. Reporting directly to the District Manager, the RGM supervises and motivates a staff of 20-45 employees, including Assistant Managers, Hourly Shift Coordinators, and Team Members. The role demands a hands-on leader who can balance the financial performance of the restaurant with the quality of service and staff development.

The primary focus of the Restaurant General Manager is profitability. The RGM has full accountability for the restaurant's profit and loss (P&L) statement and actively manages various financial factors to meet targeted outcomes. This includes reviewing key P&L lines and implementing strategies to boost sales. The manager drives sales growth through proactive guest service, effective people development, and streamlined operations.

In terms of guest satisfaction, the RGM ensures that team members are motivated and equipped to provide accurate, friendly, and speedy service in a clean and welcoming environment. The manager addresses guest issues promptly and uses customer feedback to identify root causes of problems, developing actionable plans to enhance the dining experience. Community engagement and local marketing initiatives are also crucial parts of the role, helping to attract prospective guests and build loyal customer relationships.

Leadership and people management are central to this role. The RGM leads recruitment and selection processes to build a strong, capable team. They onboard and certify new employees, providing training and guidance to foster professional growth. Recognition and coaching are used to inspire the team and elevate overall restaurant performance. The General Manager also provides direct feedback to Assistant Managers and Shift Coordinators, ensuring the workforce operates at peak efficiency.

Operational excellence is maintained by managing labor effectively, scheduling staff optimally, and enforcing compliance with government regulations, employment laws, and BURGER KING policies. The RGM is also expected to uphold the brand's operational standards consistently and to step into the roles of Assistant Manager or Hourly Shift Coordinator when necessary to maintain smooth operations.

This demanding, full-time role requires a minimum high school diploma or GED, with a preference for candidates who have some college education. Previous restaurant management experience of 1-2 years is essential, alongside a strong understanding of P&L management and the drivers of restaurant profitability. Candidates must demonstrate leadership skills, a solid grasp of guest service principles, and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively under pressure. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and irregular shifts is also necessary to meet the dynamic needs of the restaurant environment.
