Founded by Danny Meyer in New York City’s Madison Square Park, Shake Shack started as a humble hot dog cart and quickly grew into one of the fastest-growing hospitality brands. With its roots deeply embedded in fine dining and community engagement, the company stands out not just for its delicious menu offerings, but for its mission to "Stand For Something Good." This mission is reflected in everything Shake Shack does—from focusing on the well-being of its employees, known as the #ShackFam, to its engagement with local neighborhoods and dedication to corporate social responsibility.

Shake Shack is committed to providing an inclusive, supportive, and dynamic work environment where employees can grow both personally and professionally. The company offers endless learning opportunities, mentorship, and training programs designed to elevate team members to new heights. Employees enjoy a positive and fun workplace culture that values collaboration, innovation, and respect for diversity. Shake Shack’s approach is centered around people-first values, making it an inspiring employer for those passionate about hospitality and community impact.

The role of Restaurant General Manager at Shake Shack is critical to maintaining the company’s standards of excellence, fostering a thriving team environment, and ensuring seamless restaurant operations. This full-time role, with a competitive salary range of $71,801.60 to $92,393.60 annually, requires a hands-on leader who can drive financial success, uphold exceptional hospitality standards, and cultivate an empowered and motivated team.

As a Restaurant General Manager, you will lead, coach, and develop team members to succeed in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. Your role also includes implementing company policies and fostering compliance with local and state health and safety codes. Additionally, you will promote the Shake Shack brand within the local community, driving sales and enhancing the customer experience through events and outreach.

This position demands a well-rounded professional with a minimum of 3 years of general management experience in the restaurant industry, showcasing a strong understanding of restaurant operations, including personnel management, food preparation, purchasing, sanitation, and security. Candidates who bring leadership skills focused on coaching, motivation, and excellence in hospitality will thrive. Knowledge of financial management, including P&L responsibilities, is essential. While a food handler certification is preferred, it is not mandatory. Flexibility to work varied hours is expected in line with the dynamic nature of the restaurant industry.

At Shake Shack, the benefits package is designed to support the well-being and development of its employees. In addition to competitive pay, staff members enjoy performance bonuses, meal discounts, and exclusive corporate discounts for a variety of lifestyle needs such as travel, electronics, and wellness. Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance options are available to eligible employees, along with employer-paid life and disability insurance. Further benefits include a 401k retirement plan with company matching, paid time off, parental leave, and access to an employee assistance program from day one. Flexible spending accounts for health and dependent care, as well as commuter benefits, round out the extensive offering. These perks, combined with a commitment to personal growth and community involvement, make Shake Shack an exceptional employer in the hospitality sector.
