Established in 2007, Sweetgreen has revolutionized the fast food landscape by emphasizing fresh, flavorful ingredients sourced through strong relationships with farmers and local communities. The company focuses on sustainability, nutrition, and inclusivity in all its operations, creating spaces where food, people, and purpose seamlessly intersect. Sweetgreen's commitment extends beyond its menu to encompass its culture, team development, and overall impact on society, positioning itself as an innovative leader in the fast-casual dining sector. Their efforts have helped redefine what consumers expect from quick-service dining by delivering exceptional quality and an elevated guest experience.
As a Head Coach (General Manager) at Sweetgreen, you take on a pivotal leadership role, guiding your store to operational and business success. This full-time position offers a competitive base salary with a 20 percent bonus potential, alongside comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision plans, paid vacation and wellness time, and access to a 401(k) program. You will serve not just as a manager but as a mentor, strategist, and culture builder, inspiring your team to excel while driving key business metrics through the smart use of data and technology.
The role demands a holistic approach to leadership, balancing team management, operational excellence, and business acumen. You will lead by fostering an inclusive, transparent, and welcoming culture that emphasizes trust and development. Managing the entire employee lifecycle, you will ensure compliance with all food safety and cleanliness standards while addressing any operational challenges promptly. Your responsibility also encompasses delivering memorable customer experiences that align with Sweetgreen's brand values, achieving financial targets by analyzing sales, costs, and schedules, and leveraging systems and technology to optimize daily operations. The Head Coach role also requires hands-on involvement in all functions of the assistant and shift manager roles, making it essential to be adaptable and thorough.
Ideal candidates bring experience in fast-paced, high-volume restaurant environments, with a strong background in using local, organic, and sustainable products. Certification such as ServSafe Manager or Regional Manager Food Safety Certification is highly valued, alongside a tech-savvy mindset that embraces digital tools for enhanced operational efficiency and communication. Financial competence in managing budgets, labor, and profit & loss is expected, as well as proven ability in hiring, coaching, and fostering high-performing teams. Adaptability, problem-solving skills, and a data-driven approach are crucial traits, as is a genuine commitment to operational excellence, hospitality, and team engagement. Experience in fast-casual or retail settings is considered a plus, aligning with the dynamic pace and customer-centric focus of Sweetgreen stores.
Joining Sweetgreen means becoming part of a collaborative team that lives its core values and supports your growth with a clear career path. You will have opportunities to impact your community, your team, and the business in meaningful ways, helping to build healthier communities and inspire positive change through food. Sweetgreen is an equal opportunity employer, celebrating diversity in all its forms and ensuring a welcoming workplace for all. This role is an exciting chance to lead a dynamic team while contributing to a purpose-driven mission that resonates locally and nationally.
