Job Description

Border Foods is a prominent Mexican restaurant franchisee, operating as one of the largest privately held Taco Bell franchisees in the United States. Founded on a vision born between two brothers, Border Foods has grown into a respected name in the fast-food industry, committed to providing exceptional dining experiences anchored in strong core values. The company prides itself on a people-first mantra, championing a workplace culture that values every team member from cooks to cashiers to restaurant managers. This emphasis on community and collaboration fosters an environment where employees are empowered to learn, grow, and contribute meaningfully to the company’s mission of improving lives through service excellence.

As a General Manager at Border Foods, you will be entrusted with leading the operations of an entire restaurant. This leadership role is not just about managing daily tasks but about embodying and reinforcing the Border Foods Core Values: Accountability, Integrity, Family, Excellence, Teamwork, and Empowerment. These tenets are central to the company’s philosophy and shape the way team members interact with each other and with guests. The General Manager acts as a vital bridge between company vision and customer satisfaction, ensuring that the team delivers not only great food but also memorable and warm service that keeps guests coming back.

The position offers exceptional compensation potential, with a salary range from $50,000 to $100,000 annually, complemented by a strong bonus program that could add up to an additional $40,000 per year. Top performing General Managers are rewarded with unique incentives such as an annual trip to Mexico, underscoring the company’s commitment to recognizing and celebrating excellence within the team. Furthermore, Border Foods supports career development through various education programs, including GED assistance and tuition reimbursement, alongside scholarship opportunities. This comprehensive benefits package also includes medical, dental, and vision coverage available to all employees, even part-time staff, illustrating Border Foods’ inclusive approach to employee well-being.

In this role, the General Manager is responsible for cultivating a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment where both employees and guests feel valued and inspired. Core responsibilities include supervising and guiding team members to complete their duties efficiently, managing schedules to optimize productivity, and maintaining compliance with health, safety, and legal standards. Additionally, General Managers are tasked with monitoring financial performance, including interpreting profit and loss statements, managing labor and inventory costs, and minimizing losses through diligent cash handling and operational controls.

Critical to the role is fostering a culture of teamwork and family within the restaurant. The General Manager must build strong cross-functional relationships, respond promptly to employee concerns, and navigate challenging situations with empathy and effective communication. By promoting a recognition culture and providing ongoing coaching and development opportunities, the General Manager ensures the team remains motivated, engaged, and prepared to deliver outstanding service.

Border Foods places high value on strategic planning. General Managers develop short- and long-term strategies to drive restaurant success and profitability. Moreover, the role requires hands-on involvement in recruitment, hiring, and onboarding, ensuring a steady influx of talented team members who align with the company’s values and standards. This position also requires flexibility and a willingness to work varied shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, with an expectation of a minimum 50-hour workweek to meet operational demands.

Working at Border Foods means being part of a dynamic culture that encourages career growth, supports employee development, and rewards achievement. The General Manager position is a pivotal role that shapes the restaurant experience, drives business results, and contributes to an inclusive and thriving workplace. It is an excellent opportunity for experienced restaurant or retail professionals who are passionate about leadership and ready to contribute to the continued success of a leading Taco Bell franchisee.
