Job Description
Border Foods began as a simple idea between two brothers to open a Mexican restaurant and has since grown into one of the largest privately held Taco Bell franchisees in America. This established company is deeply rooted in a people-first philosophy, fostering an environment where every employee, from cooks and cashiers to restaurant managers and beyond, is valued as a vital contributor to the business. Border Foods takes pride in its Core Values, which include Accountability, Integrity, Family, Excellence, Teamwork, and Empowerment. These values shape the culture and daily operations of the company while guiding the way team members interact with each other and with guests. This commitment to a supportive, safe, and welcoming workplace is key to Border Foods' mission of making lives better.
The General Manager role at Border Foods is a pivotal position responsible for the comprehensive operation of a restaurant unit. This role demands a passionate leader who strives to uphold and reinforce the company's Core Values throughout every facet of restaurant management. As a General Manager, you will be tasked with building and maintaining a strong, collaborative team dedicated to delivering exceptional customer service and consistently providing great food. The role is designed to enhance the experience of both employees and guests by creating opportunities and environments that positively impact lives.
Beyond daily restaurant operations, leadership responsibilities encompass overseeing hiring, training, team development, scheduling, quality control, financial oversight including profit and loss management, and adherence to all health and safety standards. Border Foods places an emphasis on leadership through empowerment and active coaching, encouraging managers to develop their teams' capabilities and foster personal and professional growth. The role also requires strategic planning skills to create both short-term and long-term initiatives that drive business success.
Border Foods offers one of the most competitive compensation packages in the industry, with General Managers able to earn up to $100,000 annually, through a combination of base pay and bonus potential. Additional perks include an exclusive annual trip to Mexico for top performers, a generous bonus program that can result in up to an extra $40,000 per year, and comprehensive education programs including GED and tuition reimbursement opportunities. Scholarship offerings further demonstrate the company’s commitment to employee growth.
Medical, dental, and vision insurance benefits are available to all employees, including part-time team members. Other valuable benefits are free food, paid vacation time (PTO), sick days, holiday pay, and unique programs like vacation donation, all contributing to a supportive and rewarding workplace culture. Border Foods also fosters an inclusive workplace that respects diversity and offers equal opportunities to minorities, women, veterans, and individuals with disabilities.
This General Manager position requires a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent, as well as at least three years of restaurant or retail experience, supplemented by skills in sales building, profit and loss management, recruiting, and training. Certification such as ServeSafe is required, with the flexibility to work variable schedules that might include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. The role expects a hands-on leader who can effectively communicate, resolve challenges, motivate their team, and uphold the brand’s standards of excellence consistently.
If you are a driven, empathetic leader seeking an opportunity to impact your team and community positively while advancing your career in restaurant management, Border Foods invites you to join their family. This position offers a chance to lead within a vibrant, people-focused organization that values your contribution and invests robustly in employee success and satisfaction.
