Job Description
Border Foods is one of the largest privately held Taco Bell franchisees in America, born from the vision of two brothers who wanted to open a Mexican restaurant. Over the years, it has grown significantly, establishing a strong reputation for exceptional service, operational excellence, and a people-first work culture. This dynamic company believes in investing deeply in its employees, known affectionately as the Border Foods family, to foster growth, learning, and career progression. The organization prides itself on upholding its Core Values: Accountability, Integrity, Family, Excellence, Teamwork, and Empowerment. These values guide everyday operations and interactions, creating an environment where both employees and guests thrive.
Joining Border Foods as a General Manager means becoming a pivotal part of a mission to make lives better—both for employees and customers. This role carries the responsibility of managing the entire restaurant operation while building and leading a motivated, high-performing team. The General Manager ensures that the restaurant delivers top-quality food, excellent customer service, and a welcoming atmosphere. This position is not just about managing daily tasks; it’s about mentoring team members, driving operational standards, and being the face of Border Foods in the Mendota, MN community.
The role offers industry-leading compensation, with a base salary ranging between $50,000 and $100,000 annually, plus potential bonuses that can add up to an additional $40,000 each year. Top performers enjoy exclusive rewards such as an annual trip to Mexico, recognizing their hard work and dedication. Benefits include comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance even for part-time employees, tuition reimbursement, scholarship opportunities, paid time off, sick leave, holiday pay, and a Vacation Donation Program. In addition to material rewards, the culture at Border Foods emphasizes career growth, support, and a family-like work environment.
General Managers at Border Foods are empowered to develop and implement strategic plans that ensure restaurant success, utilizing financial metrics like P&L statements to guide decisions. The role requires overseeing hiring, training, and retention efforts to cultivate a strong team aligned with the company’s core values. Compliance with health, safety, and legal standards is paramount, as is maintaining an environment that is safe and inclusive for both team members and guests.
This position demands a high level of commitment, typically requiring a minimum of 50 hours per week, including readiness to work varied shifts such as early mornings, evenings, weekends, and some holidays. The physical demands involve standing, sitting, bending, lifting, and moving intermittently throughout the workday. Border Foods is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to diversity and inclusion, welcoming candidates from all backgrounds.
