The General Manager role at Zaxbys is a leadership position responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the restaurant while fostering a positive work environment and ensuring exceptional customer service. This full-time role comes with a competitive salary range of $70,000 to $75,000 per year, supplemented by a generous training completion bonus of $3,000, paid in two phases to eligible employees. As a General Manager, you will lead by example, guiding your team to maintain high morale and deliver on the company’s mission of providing outstanding food and service.

In this role, your responsibilities will include developing and executing strategic action plans aligned with company goals. You will be tasked with managing staffing levels to ensure optimum performance, conducting interviews, hiring and retaining top talent, and mentoring your team through continuous coaching and professional development. Your leadership will directly influence sales growth, cost control measures, and adherence to brand standards across every aspect of the restaurant’s operations.

Job Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Valid driver’s license, vehicle insurance, and reliable transportation required
  • Open availability and ability to work a minimum of 5 days and 48 hours per week
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including days, nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Successful completion of background check and motor vehicle report
  • Possess leadership qualities, organizational skills, and ability to interact cooperatively with others
  • Required minimum education: High school diploma or equivalent, some college preferred
  • 3-5 years management experience required
  • Restaurant management experience preferred

Job Duties

  • Complete all training requirements including the Zaxbys General Manager Development Plan and Operations Excellence Capstone Class
  • Obtain Food Safety Certification and Manager Certification
  • Ensure the restaurant delivers great experiences to guests
  • Maintain appropriate staffing levels by sourcing, interviewing, hiring, retaining, and recognizing top performers
  • Ensure team members receive proper training including ongoing mentoring, coaching, and development while holding team members accountable for their performance
  • Create and maintain work schedules timely and appropriately to drive sales and control labor costs
  • Plan and delegate shift assignments including communicating expectations and adjusting as needed
  • Uphold service, product quality, and cleanliness standards consistently
  • Create and maintain a positive culture and healthy team morale through guidance and leadership
  • Manage profitability through driving sales, controlling costs, developing team members, and adhering to operational standards
  • Build community relationships to increase sales by providing outstanding product and service
  • Control costs and losses while ensuring compliance with all company guidelines, policies, and procedures
  • Conduct performance reviews for crew members and assist with reviews for managers
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local laws, and company policies
  • Utilize management tools to keep accurate and current records
  • Review performance metrics daily and develop action plans to improve profitability, sales, and guest experience
  • Handle and report guest and team member complaints, concerns, and injuries in a timely and respectful manner
  • Foster a flexible attitude to perform beyond standard responsibilities
  • Ensure team safety by following all safety guidelines
  • Escalate concerns appropriately to supervisors
  • Perform all other duties necessary to ensure smooth restaurant operations
