Job Description

Border Foods started as an inspiring idea between two brothers who envisioned opening a Mexican restaurant, and over time, this vision has flourished into one of the largest privately held Taco Bell franchisees in America. As a company, Border Foods places strong emphasis on a people-first mantra, creating a supportive and inclusive environment where every team member is valued — from cooks and cashiers to restaurant managers and all other roles within the organization. The company is deeply rooted in its core values: Accountability, Integrity, Family, Excellence, Teamwork, and Empowerment. These principles are not just words on paper but are the foundation of how Border Foods operates its business and fosters a culture where employees and customers alike benefit from the experience.

Currently, Border Foods is looking for dedicated General Managers to join their expanding team and help lead their restaurants to continued success. The General Manager role is pivotal, as it involves overseeing the entire restaurant's operation, ensuring that both employees and guests have positive experiences every day. This full-time position offers a competitive salary range of $50,000 to $100,000 per year, with additional bonus potential enabling top performers to earn even more. General Managers in this role are not only responsible for maintaining high standards of food quality and customer service but also for building and nurturing a strong, motivated team. They unlock the full potential of their employees by providing a safe and welcoming environment where everyone can thrive and grow.

The General Manager’s job entails acting as a strong leader who exemplifies Border Foods' core values. Accountability and integrity are vital, as managers must ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, manage staffing and scheduling effectively, and maintain accurate financial records. They must also foster a family-oriented atmosphere, promote teamwork, and provide support and guidance to the team. Excellence is another critical aspect, requiring the General Manager to strategize for both short-term and long-term restaurant success, manage profit and loss statements effectively, and contribute to staff development through hiring, training, and coaching. Empowerment rounds out the core responsibilities by encouraging continuous personal and professional growth, sharing resources and ideas to enhance team performance and operational effectiveness.

What makes this role particularly attractive are the unique benefits that Border Foods offers to its General Managers. Beyond the competitive pay and bonus programs, top performers get rewarded with an annual trip to Mexico, reflecting the company’s commitment to recognizing and celebrating employee contributions. The company also supports ongoing education through GED and tuition reimbursement programs, alongside scholarship opportunities. Benefits extend to medical, dental, and vision coverage even for part-time employees, plus free food during shifts, paid time off including vacation, sick leave, and holidays, and a vacation donation program. Beyond tangible benefits, General Managers enjoy a vibrant culture that encourages career growth and offers unwavering support from leadership and peers alike.

The ideal candidate for this role will have a minimum of three years of combined restaurant or retail experience and a proven track record in sales building, profit and loss management, recruiting, and training. This position requires dedication, including the flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. Physical endurance is also necessary since the work involves standing, moving, bending, and lifting intermittently throughout the shift. Holding a ServeSafe certification and a valid driver’s license with vehicle insurance are also prerequisites, along with a high school diploma or equivalent.

By joining Border Foods as a General Manager, candidates become part of a dynamic and successful franchisee organization deeply committed to its community and workforce. This is not an opportunity with Taco Bell Corp. directly but rather with an independent franchisee that offers competitive wages and benefits customized to support its employees’ growth and well-being. For individuals driven by leadership, excellence, and a passion to make a meaningful impact, Border Foods presents a rewarding career path filled with opportunity and recognition.
