Panda Express, one of the country's leading Asian-inspired quick-service restaurant chains, operates a location within SAN, catering to guests seeking flavorful, fast, and convenient meals. We are currently seeking a passionate and driven Restaurant General Manager to lead the Panda Express location at San Diego International Airport. This is an exciting full-time opportunity offering a competitive salary range of $70,000 to $75,000 per year plus potential quarterly bonuses. As the Restaurant General Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the restaurant's daily operations, including managing the team, ensuring top-tier guest experiences, and maintaining profitability in the unique demands of an airport setting.

In this leadership role, you will create and nurture a guest-focused culture, develop and retain talented managers and hourly staff, and uphold stringent food quality and safety standards. Your ability to manage labor costs, monitor inventory and waste control, and drive operational excellence will be essential to the success of the restaurant. You will lead by example, working alongside your team during shifts and ensuring efficient service during peak meal times while maintaining the brand’s high standards of food presentation and quality.

Moreover, you will lead daily shift huddles to encourage a motivated and accountable team atmosphere, respond professionally to guest concerns, and implement initiatives such as new product launches and promotions to keep the restaurant competitive and engaging. This role also involves coaching and mentoring assistant managers and shift leaders to foster internal growth and succession planning. Your role is pivotal in maintaining operational readiness for fluctuating airport passenger traffic and ensuring compliance with company policies, food safety regulations, and airport operational requirements.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of restaurant management experience
  • Experience in a high-volume quick service or fast casual restaurant
  • Ability to lead and develop teams effectively
  • Strong financial management skills including labor and food cost control
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to handle pressure and maintain operational discipline
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts including weekends and holidays

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of restaurant management experience in a quick service or fast casual environment
  • Experience leading high-volume restaurant operations
  • Experience with Panda Express or Asian-inspired restaurant concepts is a plus
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and team development skills
  • Experience managing labor, food cost, inventory, and operational performance
  • Ability to stay calm, organized, and solution-focused under pressure
  • Strong operational discipline with a focus on cleanliness, consistency, and execution
  • Excellent communication and decision-making skills
  • Ability to multitask and adapt quickly in a high-traffic environment

Job Duties

  • Lead day-to-day restaurant operations in a high-volume airport environment

  • Drive speed of service and execution during peak meal periods while maintaining food quality and presentation standards
  • Ensure consistent execution of brand recipes, wok-cooking standards, and portion control
  • Lead daily shift huddles and foster a high-energy, accountability-driven team culture
  • Handle guest concerns professionally and turn feedback into action
  • Support new product launches, promotions, and operational initiatives
  • Develop future leaders through coaching, accountability, and mentorship
