Job Description
The position of Area Coach (AC) is a pivotal supervisory role within the fast-paced restaurant industry, specifically within a chain that prioritizes excellence in customer service and operational efficiency. The hiring company operates in the food service sector and is dedicated to delivering high-quality products and memorable experiences to its guests while maintaining robust financial health and operational standards across its establishments. The role is essential for ensuring that customer satisfaction, product quality, and company policies are consistently met or exceeded. This leadership position is entrusted with the direct supervision of Associate General Managers, Shift Managers, and Hourly Crew, enabling the Area Coach to influence daily operational success and staff development effectively.
The Area Coach or Restaurant General Manager (RGM) serves as the field leader who embodies the company’s mission by executing the restaurant's annual operating plan with a sharp focus on driving operational excellence. This position demands hands-on involvement in customer service, food safety, staff training, and financial management, requiring a dynamic and proactive approach to day-to-day restaurant operations. The RGM fosters a culture of service excellence, operational consistency, and team motivation, which collectively contribute to achieving margin goals and sustainable growth.
Key responsibilities of the Area Coach include leadership in customer satisfaction and quality assurance, financial oversight, operational management, and human resources. The Area Coach ensures fast, accurate service and positive guest relations while upholding rigorous product and facility standards to enhance the brand reputation. Customer service is approached through role-modeling and proactive issue resolution, leveraging customer feedback to drive continuous improvement.
Financial management is a critical component of the role, with the RGM analyzing sales, labor, inventory, and other controllable expenses to maintain profitability. The Area Coach collaborates with purchasing and vendors to support capital expenditures and integrates best practices for cost control. Operationally, this role manages facility maintenance, food preparation standards, service speeds, and staff scheduling, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
In human resources, the Area Coach drives hiring decisions, performance management, employee relations, and training programs like the Learning Zone, supporting the career growth of Shift Managers and Assistant General Managers. This role is instrumental in fostering a positive, equitable work environment and ensuring adherence to workplace regulations at all levels.
Performance success is measured by achieving the restaurant’s operating plan, margin improvement, sales growth, and employee development metrics such as certification levels and turnover rates. The role offers competitive compensation including an annual bonus potential ranging from $14,560 to $36,400 and benefits such as paid time off, short-term and long-term disability, medical and dental insurance, life insurance, and 401(k) plans.
This opportunity is ideal for candidates with supervisory experience in food service or retail environments, who demonstrate strong business acumen, leadership capabilities, and a passion for delivering exceptional customer experiences. The Area Coach role is more than a management position; it is a chance to lead by example, influence a vibrant team, and contribute directly to the success and reputation of the restaurant brand.
