Job Description
KFC Corporation, a globally recognized leader in the quick-service restaurant industry, is renowned for its iconic fried chicken and commitment to quality, community, and career growth. Established decades ago, KFC has grown into an influential and beloved brand with thousands of locations worldwide, including franchised and corporate restaurants. The company emphasizes innovation while staying true to its heritage, making it a leader in fast food both domestically in the United States and internationally. With a vibrant culture focused on respect, growth, and inclusivity, KFC aims not only to satisfy hunger but also to build meaningful careers for individuals passionate about the restaurant industry and leadership development. This position is located at 2829 University Ave., San Diego, CA, offering a competitive hourly wage of $20 to $25, reflecting the company’s dedication to attracting and retaining quality leadership.
The role of Restaurant General Manager (RGM) at KFC is pivotal to the success of the restaurant and the brand's ongoing reputation for excellent customer service and operational excellence. As an RGM, you are entrusted with full ownership of daily restaurant operations including financial management, team leadership, customer experience, and compliance with health and safety regulations. This position demands a strategic and dynamic leader who can inspire a diverse team and nurture talent at every level, from team members to shift supervisors. The RGM will lead by example, consistently engaging with staff and customers to foster a culture of positivity, accountability, equity, inclusion, and belonging.
In this role, you will be responsible for recruiting, onboarding, and developing a world-class team, while creating tailored coaching and career development plans that promote real growth and career advancement. Operations oversight covers staffing, scheduling, training, maintaining cleanliness, ensuring safety protocols, and upholding food quality standards. You will guide the restaurant to meet brand standards and lead new initiatives, ensuring all staff members are well trained and prepared for product rollouts.
Financial stewardship is another key component as you will analyze overall performance metrics to maximize sales, manage budgets, control labor costs, oversee inventory management, and maintain compliance-related activities. Staying ahead in a competitive market by differentiating your restaurant through superior service, digital engagement, and building guest loyalty is equally important.
The ideal candidate is an experienced leader with at least three years in restaurant or retail management, proven skills in people development and team coaching, and the ability to use P&L analysis to drive profitability. Familiarity with digital platforms, excellent communication abilities, and knowledge of food safety and maintenance programs are required. Candidates must also have ServSafe certification or the ability to obtain it, reliable transportation, and authorization to work in the U.S.
KFC is more than just a place to work – it emphasizes a career full of purpose, opportunity for growth, and prioritizes people-first values. The company provides a range of benefits including competitive pay plus bonuses, paid time off, comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance, free meals during shifts, professional development programs, tuition reimbursement, and access to exclusive perks. Additionally, the KFC Foundation Programs support employees through initiatives like free college tuition via Western Governors University, savings match programs, and hardship assistance offering support in emergencies.
Choosing to join KFC means stepping into a leadership legacy where you can make a meaningful impact, develop your leadership skills, and build a fulfilling career. If you are a visionary manager ready to lead boldly and grow purposefully, this opportunity will empower you to shape the future of your team and the brand while delivering excellence every day.
