Job Description
KFC, also known as Kentucky Fried Chicken, is one of the world’s largest and most recognizable fast-food brands, famous for its pressure-fried chicken and distinctive recipes. Founded over 80 years ago, KFC has expanded globally with thousands of restaurant locations managed through corporate and franchised operations. The establishment at 5060 Central Ave NE, Columbia Heights, MN, operates as part of this iconic brand, providing customers with high-quality meals in a friendly and clean environment. This particular position falls within a franchisee-operated restaurant, emphasizing the local management’s responsibility for hiring and employment processes. This strategic positioning allows managerial staff to work closely with the community and uphold KFC’s global reputation at a grassroots level.
This role is for a Restaurant General Manager who is pivotal to the operational success of the restaurant. The General Manager acts as the primary leader, overseeing the entire team and ensuring the restaurant achieves its targets related to customer service, quality, and financial performance. The position demands a blend of leadership, business acumen, and interpersonal skills to manage daily activities effectively and inspire the team. The general manager will lead the guest experience, ensuring that all customers receive friendly service, clean surroundings, and products that meet KFC’s high standards. A key component of the role is mentoring staff – termed here as the KFC Family – through comprehensive training, development programs, and onboarding new hires to build a strong, motivated team.
In addition to human resource leadership, the General Manager will handle essential operational duties such as payroll submission, employee paperwork, and adherence to company policies designed to maintain compliance and efficiency. Safety and cleanliness also remain priorities, requiring the Manager to oversee daily operations that ensure the store meets health and safety regulations. The role involves close collaboration with other General Managers and Area Leaders to share best practices and support overall business growth.
Success as a General Manager at KFC requires a leader who leads by example, demonstrating commitment to high standards in customer service, food quality, and restaurant maintenance. The ideal candidate should have a business partnership mindset with strong ownership of the restaurant’s results. Mentorship and team building are critical to the culture, helping new employees integrate and develop. This role also suits candidates who thrive in a fast-paced environment, are goal-oriented, and possess a strong appreciation for customer service. Additional physical requirements include the ability to perform some heavy lifting, extended standing, manual dexterity, and the ability to maintain safety around hot equipment.
KFC is an Equal Opportunity Employer, maintaining fairness in hiring regardless of race, gender, age, and other protected statuses. Interested candidates should note that this is a franchise-operated location, meaning employment decisions and relations are managed independently by the franchisee. The application process welcomes requests for accommodations to support any disability needs. Overall, this General Manager role offers an exciting opportunity to lead a well-respected global brand at a local level while developing and mentoring a dedicated team in a dynamic restaurant environment.
