Job Description

Border Foods began as a simple idea between two brothers planning to open a Mexican restaurant and has evolved into one of the largest privately held Taco Bell franchisees in America. As a prominent player in the fast-food industry, Border Foods operates a vast network of Taco Bell restaurants, emphasizing a people-first philosophy that shapes their work environment. This family-oriented company values growth, learning, and the continuous evolution of its team members and guest experiences. With their Core Values firmly entrenched—Accountability, Integrity, Family, Excellence, Teamwork, and Empowerment—they aim to create a culture that nurtures talent and fosters a positive impact both internally and externally.

Border Foods is currently seeking a dynamic General Manager to join their team in Mount Horeb, WI. This role is essential in reinforcing the company's Core Values and driving operational excellence. The General Manager is responsible for overseeing the entire restaurant's daily operations, ensuring a welcoming, safe, and supportive environment for employees and customers alike. As a key leadership figure, the General Manager must build and maintain a strong team committed to delivering exceptional food quality and a friendly customer experience. The role comes with an attractive compensation package, with salaries ranging from $50,000 to $100,000 per year, supplemented by a significant bonus program offering the potential to earn up to an additional $40,000 annually.

At Border Foods, General Managers unlock the full capabilities of their team by providing guidance and fostering personal and professional development. The company supports its employees with education programs, including GED and tuition reimbursement opportunities, scholarship offerings, and comprehensive medical, dental, and vision benefits available to all positions, even part-time. The incentive package also includes unique perks like complimentary food, vacation time with paid time off, sick leave, holiday pay, and an innovative vacation donation program.

Border Foods takes pride in its culture of career growth and support, offering an inspiring environment where General Managers can develop strategic plans for restaurant success, manage finances effectively by interpreting profit and loss statements, and minimize losses through rigorous cash handling and inventory control. They ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, labor control, and waste management, driving efficiency across all levels of restaurant operations.

In addition, the General Manager role demands strong leadership skills to motivate and resolve employee issues, maintain excellent customer relations by addressing complaints effectively, and create a collaborative atmosphere characterized by unity and teamwork. By empowering their teams through coaching, training, and actively sharing resources and ideas, General Managers at Border Foods continuously raise the bar for operational standards and employee satisfaction.

This role requires a minimum of three years of relevant restaurant or retail experience, proficiency in sales building, recruiting, and training, and a commitment to excellence demonstrated through a track record of successful hiring and retention. Candidates must be ServeSafe Certified, at least 18 years old, and possess a valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance. Flexibility to work varying shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, is necessary to meet the fluctuating demands of the restaurant industry.

Overall, joining Border Foods as a General Manager offers more than just a job. It’s a chance to be part of a thriving family-focused organization dedicated to making lives better—both within their team and the broader community. This opportunity combines competitive pay, exceptional benefits, and a vibrant culture that promotes career advancement and personal growth.
