Job Description
Border Foods began as the vision of two brothers who dreamed of opening a Mexican restaurant and has since blossomed into one of the largest privately held Taco Bell franchisees in the United States. With a focus on community and a people-first mantra, Border Foods values every team member from cooks and cashiers to restaurant managers, fostering an environment where employees can learn, grow, and contribute to the ongoing mission of making lives better through exceptional service and a collaborative workplace culture. Border Foods is committed to upholding core values including Accountability, Integrity, Family, Excellence, Teamwork, and Empowerment, which serve as the foundation of all operations and interactions within the company.
As a General Manager with Border Foods, you will play a pivotal role in reinforcing these core values while overseeing the full operation of a restaurant. This leadership position demands a strong commitment to creating safe, welcoming, and supportive spaces where both employees and guests feel valued and respected. Your mission will be to enhance the restaurant experience through effective team building, training, and management to ensure customers consistently receive high-quality food and friendly, efficient service. The role emphasizes not only operational excellence but also personal development within the team, making it an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about hospitality and leadership.
The General Manager position offers an attractive compensation package with top pay in the industry, including a base salary and significant bonus potential. Successful managers can earn up to $100,000 annually combining base pay and bonuses. Additionally, Border Foods recognizes and rewards outstanding performance with annual trips to Mexico for its Best of the Best General Managers, educational programs such as GED and tuition reimbursement, scholarship opportunities, and comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, and vision coverage for all positions, even part-time. Employees also enjoy free food, paid vacation, sick leave, holiday pay, and a unique vacation donation program that promotes teamwork and generosity.
General Managers at Border Foods are entrusted with strategic planning for restaurant success, including financial oversight through profit and loss analysis, recruiting and training excellent team members, and enforcing company policies, including health and safety standards. The role requires strong interpersonal skills to resolve employee issues, motivate and empower team members, address customer complaints compassionately, and cultivate a positive workplace culture that drives excellence and continuous improvement.
To succeed as a General Manager here, one must have a minimum of three years of experience in restaurant or retail management or a comparable combination of education and experience. Being ServeSafe certified, possessing a high school diploma or equivalent, and having a valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance are mandatory. The role entails working flexible hours, including mornings, evenings, late nights, weekends, and some holidays. These demands can change based on operational needs, making adaptability and resilience important traits.
Border Foods proudly embraces diversity and is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to fair treatment and inclusion of minorities, women, protected veterans, and individuals with disabilities. The company’s progressive culture encourages career growth and support, ensuring that every team member has the opportunity to advance and thrive in their professional journey within the brand. It's essential to note that applicants are applying to the franchisee rather than Taco Bell Corp. directly, as franchisees operate independently and determine their own wages and benefits programs. This transparency ensures fair expectations and clear communication for potential employees.
By joining Border Foods as a General Manager, you become part of a dynamic family dedicated to delivering excellent customer experiences and improving lives through leadership, integrity, and teamwork. With comprehensive benefits, career development opportunities, competitive compensation, and a vibrant workplace culture, this role offers a fulfilling career path for motivated individuals ready to make a significant impact in the fast-paced restaurant industry.
